  • The more I read about Nintendo, the more genuine dislike I get for them. The only thing I read, hear and see are negative bullshit for some petty reason they’ve.

I hate how such a shit company holds so many good nostalgic games. Truly hoping for a quick hack on the Switch 2 and a PC emulation (and I hope truly, hope that Palworld wins the whole fiasco).

  • Two quotes/ statements from a book named “The Midnight Library” ;

    • “If you aim to be something you are not, you will always fail. Aim to be you. Aim to look and act and think like you. Aim to be the truest version of you. Embrace that you-ness. Endorse it. Love it. Work hard at it. And don't give a second thought when people mock it or ridicule it. Most gossip is envy in disguise”.
    • “Never underestimate the big importance of small things”.
  • I wonder how people will show off all of the books they haven't read, what with analogs going out of stye and all.

I don’t know whether this is sarcasm or not, can’t figure it out. But if isn’t, well, I suppose they won’t.

Reading is usually for oneself and not to show off, so I assume, people who purchase such a thing wouldn’t care about showing off.

I like reading normal books but, I currently prefer devices (I.E screens) because it’s easier to carry around, multiple books possible and less preying eyes “what are you reading”.

  • The moment this becomes an obligation for each person, no matter what, I’ll just quit Discord. I’m tired of stuff like this.

If people want to do bad stuff, they will find a way no matter what anyway.

  • Yeah, no. It is not the only place to play Mario. There’s emulation and Piracy. I’m quite certain skilled people will try to hack the Switch 2 and sooner or later there will be a Switch 2 emulation (although might take a while). €80-90 euro for one single game is nuts.

The only reason I would purchase a Switch 2 is when it is capable of being hacked.

  • Yeah, I have. Back then I was active in a lot of political and semi-political communities, at first it was pretty decent and people were polite, debates with actual facts and links to trustable sources.

After a while though, people become more hostile, insulting and debated with emotions and zero facts. I just grew tired of it and wasn’t really active in any other community. So I left for 4-6 months.

Then one day got bored, decided to return to Lemmy but unsubscribed from every political community and I straight up blocked anyone who’s being a douche. I now stick a few communities (Piracy, gaming and books).

  • You can change your context with a new console, but I think it may be cheaper to do something like buying a controller and playing games while standing up, or on your couch/armchair

I will try this! Will try the standing. Though, eventually I’ll sit due just tired of standing up. The gaming PC is in my bedroom so there’s not really much room for couch and such.

I have a controller that, I often use but same issue happens of being exhausted of the feeling ‘being behind a desk and screen’.

You can also achieve this by identifying the things that you have to do in your job that mirror videogame genres you enjoy and picking a game that shares few of those qualities.

The thing is, I don’t think anything mirrors my work. I currently have a very basic accounting job and it’s not even that demanding. My work week exists of a mix with doing accounting, listen to podcasts, watching videos on phone and such.

It’s one of the most relax work I have ever had to be honest. Yet it’s the first job where this feeling of exhaustion started.

  • I also find stress relief games. Mindless 3rd person action games for me. Mad Max was great because I could drive around picking fights or crashing stuff. The Batman Arkham games and the Shadow of Mordor games are other great examples for me.

Yeah, so for me it would be most Switch games through emulation (such as Captain Toad, 3D World and Odyssey) and P3R/P5R.

I have not found any relaxing "cozy" games that work for me. Nothing has really grabbed my attention enough to stick with.

I checked ‘cozy’ games but like you, they don’t seem to be my type of games.

I’m truly debating about the Deck but €670 is a lot to invest when being uncertain. Also what if it wouldn’t fix the exhaustion issue of screens and desks.

  • How long have you been working a day job? It might just be a period of adjustment.

For about 2 months and a few days now. So I think, I already adjusted to the changes.

School life vs work life is a lot different, so it takes time to adjust for most people.

Definitely! It was tough the first few weeks, lol.

Also, if you work from home, that may also be a factor. If so, try not working where you game if possible. That was a huge thing for me.

At the moment I don’t yet, I purposely asked if I could work full time at office. I still live with parents and the distractions are a bit much. Might try working from home sooner or later though.

  • Apple has teased with making the iPhone-as-a-service, meaning you lease it instead of owning it.

I really like iPhones (more so iOS), especially with sideloading now.

But if leasing becomes norm and we can’t purchase it or get it through subscription of service (2 years with Vodafone and then the phone is yours kind of thing). I’ll just purchase an older Samsung. Then I’ll take the loss and struggle for a few months with the interface and all that.

  • Probably;

    • I’m proud. You proved everyone that you were able to do everything, they said you could not (education-wise).
    • Don’t be afraid to change jobs, get the one that’s better for your future.
  • I don’t see the problem with having both- they fill different niches.

Money. Steam Deck OLED costs in my country €700, Switch OLED €350-360 and the Switch 2 will be around the €560-600.

steam deck, I’d be really sad to not have any Mario kart, Zelda, etc…

I’m so close on purchasing a Steam Deck OLED to game in weekends or in bed after full 5 days behind a desk job. But I’m always worried that these games won’t work well with emulations. I’ve been researching like crazy but keep reading different things.

And spending €700 with uncertainty is not my favorite thing to do.

  • Best is not to use the platform but if you do, then the best thing to do is; use a tweaked version.

One that removes the ads and gives more settings to tweak.

For iOS you can check EthMods Telegram channel and find the tweaked version and then install them through SideStore sideloading.

  • I’m wondering how Tumblr is a safe space while it’s still filled with porn-bots. I tried the platform several times and no matter what I do, I always get smacked with some random NSFW content.

  • When Lemmy first got popular and all debates happened and such, I kept debating politely while they kept bashing, insulting and all that. I’m over that.

When I see such opinions now, I block them. They are seriously not worth my time, energy and effort. Let them wallow in their misery.

They won’t realize it but everything bad they hope happening to others will certainly bite them back sooner or later. The moment they do not fit their (own) ideology of fascism just a tiny bit, it’ll bite them back.

  • Seemed fun but I noped out of everything the moment, I heard the prices.

Steam Deck OLED + Emulations is the way to go.

  • Kunnen ze volgens mij nooit echt goed handhaven.

  • Heavy emulator user here, the Deck made my Switch obsolete

Oh wow, that the Steam Deck had such an effect on the usage of the switch.

If you don't mind the tinkering to get the emulators configured, the Deck is a no-brainer for me

I don’t really mind tinkering with it, already know my ways with emulation on PC. However, I have no knowledge on Linux and that’s what worries me a bit.

However, the Deck can also run every other console up until Switch/PS3/Xbox 360

So the Steam Deck can run the PS2 emulation and play these games (just as the PC can?).

Most of the games of the Switch I’d like to play are the Mario games. I can name them all if necessary but will do it later (at the moment at work).

On the Deck, ToTK can struggle to reach even 30 in many areas without community modpacks.

Can the Steam Deck run Breath of the Wild without issue?

  • As I’m uncertain how strict this instance is regarding sailing high seas, I’ll just mention that 95% of my games are through sailing the seas including emulating.

    I’d recommend a Steam Deck

Alright! I will message you on Matrix but if it is okay, it’ll be on Saturday or Sunday due to work.
