  • Today I learned fig wasps exist and my mind is blown a little, nature is insane.

  • Someone motivate me to continue painting. Please. I want to but I don't want to set it all up. Haha.

  • It didn't give the vibe of a scare campaign as she and others (in the comments) were warning dog owners to look at getting Snake Avoidance training and to keep their dogs on leads etc and to just be vigilant and aware when out with their dogs she was just warning that there are more around then usual for this time of year because of the heat. As for the red bellied black snake thing, that was clearly a bit of misinformation and I'll edit it out.

  • That was the only purpose of my warning, not villainise snakes but to remind people that they're around more than usual and dogs can be very silly and make them feel rightfully threatened.

  • In fairness she was just telling people to be more aware as her dog had been bitten and she was upset, she told people to keep away from snakes and to be vigilant. She was just letting them know there are more around then usual and her vet had told her the same thing.

  • Bahahaha it took me way longer than I'd like to admit to get this.

  • I saw a tiktok explaining that there are a lot of venomous snakes out in unprecedented numbers for this time of year (because of the heat) and that 9 dogs in Geelong and the surrounding area were bitten by venomous snakes in one day. So can the dog owners of this wonderful thread please be super vigilant and keep your precious babies safe.

Edit: just to add, this is not to villainise snakes but to warn people to keep their dogs close and on leads so they don't make snakes feel threatened. There is a training program you can enrol dogs in that teaches them to keep away from snakes. It's called Snake avoidance training.

  • After much deliberation, I voted for the Gang-gang Cockatoo because it looks cool and I want to join the gang-gang gang.

  • I ordered Nacho ingredients on ubereats because I'm home sick, a delivery person accepted but has not moved at all since, to even get to the supermarket. This is a major first world problem for me. Haha.

  • Disappointingly, it was actually a her.

  • Thank you, I'm feeling hopeful and ready to take care of myself.

  • Definitely agree with this, it was "lose weight and you'll be fine" but not "losing weight will help the most, however it can be difficult with PCOS, so here are some options that might help"

  • Exactly this, telling me to lose weight but not offering me any support or help with it doesn't help me to treat my pcos and weight loss should be slow and methodical, so it doesn't help treat some of the issues associated with it now.

  • It's more so that losing weight is a part of treating PCOS but the doctor didn't acknowledge or even consider the difficulty of losing weight with the hormone imbalance and insulin resistance associated with it.

  • That's definitely true, I forget that the doctor was just doing their job and probably is unbothered and also didn't give me the medical help I required for one part of my overall condition.

  • The problem isn't that she told me I need to lose weight, I know I do, the problem is that PCOS makes weightloss complex and difficult and without other supplemental help is disheartening. The doctor I saw today recognised the complexities of losing weight with PCOS and was much more helpful and generally more reasonable in her approach. I now have a new medication to try that helps treat the insulin resistance caused by PCOS and this will in turn (with a change in diet and lifestyle) help me to lose weight at a reasonable healthier pace.

  • Trying a new doctor at the same clinic I usually attend as when I got diagnosed with PCOS my original new doctor straight up just told me to lose weight to treat it...yet somehow sitting here feeling guilty for changing doctors.

  • Hahahaha I do love this suggestion

  • I will dress up for Halloween for work but I cannot figure out what to dress as and it's so frustrating.

  • After not handing in my first two assignments for the two subjects I'm currently studying, I then didn't hand in the next two assignments...so I wasn't going to pass anyway. Once I have my adhd diagnosis I'm going to get a letter from my psychiatrist stating that I've had severely reduced capacity due to adhd and work stress and that led me to being unable to do my assignments. It's really hard to explain the feeling of it all, but I'm just going allow myself to rest and reduce the pressure on myself.
