  • How I experience aphantasia is as not being able to maintain an image. However I have good spacial imagination.

  • I assume I don't need to provide sources for operation paperclip as it is well known.

As for the Nazi part: these counties were popular travel destinations for Nazis trying to escape prosecution, with Argentina being especially known for this, who then helped exterminate political opponents in concentration camps. This is more relevant to the earlier Peru's coup however.

  • operation paperclip moment. also the time they backed Nazi (literary, not figuratively) military overthrows of Democratic governments in Argentina, Peru, Chile (and others, these are just the ones of the top of my head).

  • On a serious note, if I'm not mistaken, most cases of Tor users identity being uncovered is via information the user either unintentionally leaving information public, or privately told another user, which was made public due to a betrayal or a security breach.

In most other cases involve security flaws in Tor clients not the network, again if I'm not mistaken.

  • probably not the best solution in your use case, but you can open tabs in an existing Firefox instance via a shell script using the -new-tab flag.

  • doesn't it allow the government to label anything as adult content, therefore either making companies ban it, or put it behind an ID wall?

  • I'm still using a custom build of infinity, and it still works for me. anything account based didn't work for me, probably did something wrong. there is also geddit on fdroid, also no account tho, but uses scraping/spoofs the official app so will probably work for some time.

  • Its honestly really fun, though I feel like its easier a bit

  • According to the World Bank, the PRC lifted 800 million people out of poverty, which is eight times higher than the number of civilian deaths the "Black Book of Communism" assigns to all Communist counties, which itself is widely considered overblown, including by several coauthors.

  • President can refer to an unelected leader. However the position of the president in China is purely ceremonial, so it could be argued that the more important title Xi holds is General Secretary, which is a title the PRC "inherited" from the Soviet Union which I feel like is closer to the position of a prime minister in European countries (ie the leader of the ruling party), though I admit my understanding of Chinese politics is quite shallow.

  • FYI:

Many developments initially criticized as ghost cities did materialize into economically vibrant areas when given enough time to develop, such as Pudong, Zhujiang New Town, Zhengdong New Area, Tianducheng and malls such as the Golden Resources Mall and South China Mall. While many developments failed to live up to initial lofty promises, most of them eventually became occupied when given enough time.

Reporting in 2018, Shepard noted that "Today, China’s so-called ghost cities that were so prevalently showcased in 2013 and 2014 are no longer global intrigues. They have filled up to the point of being functioning, normal cities".

  • Similar thing happened across the border, in Ukraine, with a pacifist being accused of "justifying the war", as reported by Democracy Now!

  • Something that can come up is weird notation in math.

As an example photomath, which is an automatic math problem solver, uses a different interval notation (ie x ≥ 2 is solved for all x ∈ [ 2, ∞ ⟩ ), than the one used in my locale (ie x ≥ 2 is solved for all x ∈ [ 2, ∞ ) or for all x ∈ ⟨ 2, ∞ )) which does trick some people up.

This is more relevant at highschool level than academic level I'm guessing though.

extra note: chat GPT gets the right notation (in a sample rate of n=1).

  • I thought I recognized the art style. They over exaggerate peoples facial expressions so much, yet somehow its always one of five faces

  • Like Github PRs on an open source project

Github is a git hosting service, PRs are an inherent feature of git, though done traditionally via email.

  • I don't mean killing them [billionaires]

    :( /j

  • Im also gonna add that meat products are often treated more favorably by governments, making them cheaper than vegetarian options, despite being more resource intensive. Not that I think governments shouldn't help light industry mind you.

  • And if USB SS+ (aka USB 3.1 gen 2 aka USB 3.2 gen 2×1) with 10 Gb/s is not enough for you, the newest iteration of the USB standard USB 4.0 version 2.0 has USB4 gen 4 at 80 Gb/s

    Edit: for reference: Wi-Fi 4 supports up to 600 Mb/s or .6 Gb/s, while Wi-Fi 7 supports up to 46.12 Gb/s
