Those communities are full of child porn
I have autism, and it's not an insurmountable problem for a parent to deal with. Good strategies for raising a child with autism include having good sonic insulation in the walls, installing proper blackout curtains in their bedroom, getting the family used to using headphones, teaching your kids to cook, using movies to explain complex social situations to your kids, stim toys, and a healthy tradition of philosophical and sociological debate around the dinner table.
The movies thing is especially important. Any time there's a juicy scene of interpersonal drama, you should pause the movie and have a discussion among the family about what each character is thinking and feeling and why they're saying what they say. Good TV and a good discussion about it can help an autistic child to understand the world of social interaction and subtext. Autistic kids don't absorb this stuff automatically like neurotypicals, so you have to talk about it and explain it regularly. Even something as simple as explaining why Han Solo doesn't believe in the force (He's lived a life of poverty and needs to believe that he's in control of his own life in order to feel safe), can be really useful for a kid struggling to understand why people act, think, and speak the way they do. Everything's got lessons in it for kids, and the thing about autistic kids is you gotta discuss it instead of expecting cultural osmosis to work properly.
Emotional coping strategies, meditation, and mental illness are topics you should have already discussed with your kid before they hit puberty. By the time your kid is 10, they should know a few breathing exercises, how to deal with uncomfortable thoughts, which mental illnesses run in the family, and what works for calming them down in a panic attack.
The problem with many parents is they don't teach their kids how to be teenagers until the teenagers are already experiencing puberty. That's wrong. You have to be prepared and your kids have to be prepared too. Even if mum and dad know what to expect, it's no good for 14 year old Tim to suddenly be angry all the time and not know how to deal with it. Tim ought to have a firm grasp of mindfulness skills already by age 14, and he should know what to expect from puberty and who he can talk to about it.
Also some of the worst mental illnesses a young person can deal with are caused by early childhood abuse, sooooooo don't abuse your kids and raising teenagers will be much easier.
Dealing with teenagers is easy, the real problem is cars.
Most parents get pregnant, and decide to move to the suburbs to raise their kids. This is the wrong decision. Suburbs are built for the car. Kids can't drive. And little Timothy might be happy to walk to the park and be driven to playdates, but teenage Tim wants independence. He wants to go to the mall on his own two feet. And if his neighbourhood isn't walkable, he can't.
If you want easy teenagers, then live somewhere with good walkability and transit access, and teach your kids how to take the bus when they're little. They ought to feel safe going out on their own for errands by the time they're 10, and they ought to have a late curfew and plenty of options for getting around by 15. That's the secret. Independence. That's what teens want. Provide a safe environment at home and let them explore the world on their own terms with the courage and street smarts you taught them. And when you have a kid, remember that you're preparing them to be an adult and yes, a teenager. Teach them the skills teenagers need.
Marx wasn't a materialist, he was a determinist. Materialism is a mistranslation of his views.
Nonsense. Idealists believe the physical world, including anatomical sex, is an illusion created by our minds. No idealist would say maleness is objective. But a materialist would. Because materialists believe in physical matter.
You should check out http://soulism.net for a further analysis of why materialism is reactionary.
Idealists imagine ideas to have their own realm of existence with a mystical source of power, indepentend from said dialectic.
No we don't. We believe the supposed world of matter is a social construct created by people's belief, and that dialectics occur within the mind. We believe the "material" world arises as a result of mental dialectics. Meanwhile, materialists believe that matter just popped into existence in its own for no reason, with no cause, and that all we experience is matter.
For example, take a trans woman who has not yet begun HRT. According to the materialist, her body's male features are the true nature of reality, and our perceptions arise directly from her male body. The materialist refuses to bear any responsibility for perceiving her as male. Meanwhile, an idealist says that maleness is a social construct, and the true nature of this trans woman is her female identity. Her body is a visual symbol created by our minds and existing only within our minds. We bear responsibility for how we create this symbol. Perceiving her body as male is in most situations an act of violence. We have the choice to perceive her as female, and we should do so if that is her wish.
The way we perceive her body is informed by thousands of years of history of society, a dialectical process of causation intertwined with he patriarchy and the ideals of the enlightenment. A materialist denies all of this complexity and says that their perception of her body as male is objective truth, which simply appeared on its own with no social process informing its creation. They maintain the body is pure physics and their mind has no impact. This is irresponsible and dangerous.
Materialism is thinking of things and their development on the grounds of history and causality, like a play of material and its organisational emergent forms (like ideas and their neurons). Whereas Idealism means imagining some kind of methaphysical structure or idea behind thins, like a god or ghost (Geist, Hegel, Kant...).
Materialists are reactionaries who imagine that the social conditions of capitalism are immutable realities. Idealists recognise that our consensus reality is socially constructed and approach topics of liberation and equally from a mature mindset.
Take money, for example. A materialist believes that money is valuable because a copper coin and a paper bill has an intrinsic worth. While an idealist knows the fact that the coin is a representation of the social construct of money, and that our reality is controlled by the beliefs of those who value money. Materialists are the people saying we should go back to the gold standard. Idealists are the ones saying to abolish money.
But someone might look at that and say "oh shit I'm so bad at my job. I'd better not touch it anymore or I'll make it even worse"
If tankie is a slur then so is Nazi.
From the river to the sea has existed a lot longer than Hamas has in in power. A conservative government can't "claim" a half century old chant.
Australia's national animal is a kangaroo. If I draw a kangaroo on the canvas, does it mean I support the dictatorship of Australia? No, of course not. Because Australia doesn't get to own the idea of kangaroos. And Hamas doesn't get to own this chant. This chant is a lot less tied to the views of a conservative government than the German flag it's drawn on.
One on the right looks like Immortan Joe's muscle armour
Nah the black parts of the sign are recessed. You can see from the lighting.
I reject the existence of Israel too. Before Israel, Jews and Arabs lived in peace in Palestine. But Britain invaded, created Israel, and cut Palestine in half. From the river to the sea, Arab Palestinians must be free to walk hand in hand with their Jewish siblings. Not imprisoned behind Israeli walls, forced out of their homes, and bombed in the name of stopping a Hamas government that Israel themselves helped gain power. Hamas is Israel's fault, not the fault of the innocent children in Gaza. Israel is responsible for the attacks against Jews in Israel and in the rest of the world. Because Israel has told the world that Jews are evil colonisers and their existence must be paid for in innocent blood. This is a slanderous lie against the Jewish people! Down with Israel! Down with antisemitism! Down with genocide!
I had a chat with them yesterday using google translate and apparently they think "From the river to the sea" is problematic. Not sure why, but it's probably their government lying to them and saying Palestine is an ethnostate.
