  • This. I don't exactly know how YouTube's architecture works, but from running my own mediaserver i woild guess They don't live transcode because that takes clock cycles on a graphics card or a CPU. They transcode a couple of different bitrate files to serve up and then just serve up direct stream file transfers, thus saving electricity and clock cycles. In order to actively embed an ad in a YouTube video it would have to be done semi-permanently, Decreasing the value of live serve ads.

  • nord is a double edge sword w/ all their advertising. more customers but more government notice. iplayer may have borked nords ips or nord might just be fuckin up. doesn't seem like you need tailscale, seems like you need a different vpn to test with. mulvad is an easy recommendation, but i recommend shopping around and finding somebody you can conceivably trust. because when you route your internet through them you should probably personally vet past their ads.

  • Well aren't you just a sensationalist. I think its not black and white due to the humanitarian atrocities perpetuated on the palestinian people by the israeli government and its people. These are the chickens coming home to roost. When we see videos of bullies getting their comeuppance on the internet its always cheering for the little guy, but as soon as that bully is a country you support it seems a lot of people on the internet put their blinders on.

  • Your 3rd paragraph makes sense but the second undercuts any attempt at meeting in the middle, omitting any context of the subjugation of the palestinian people and their limited means of fighting back. I will stop believing people like you are okay with the subjugation of palestine as soon as someone puts forth an alternative avenue of resolution. So far its just a lot of people saying "not like this."
