  • And owning a truck in the the US, I feel, is a status symbol for many that purchase them rather than any need for carrying/towing stuff. So extra pointless.

Edit: And even if so, they don't need to be so big.

  • In that it's not gonna run Cyberpunk 2077 or AAA game of your choice at 4k and a solid 120fps with raytracing, it certainly won't impress, no. In how it can play almost any given Windows game out of the box with comparable performance, assuming your system is specced to run it, I think is impressive.

    • Void
    • EFI and LUKS partition, containing an LVM with root/home/swap. Ext4 partitions. I'm vaguely aware of btrfs and zram but haven't taken them for a spin yet.

    • basic plasma install + desired apps.
  • While one should, ideally, use AMD over Nvidia with Linux. It sounds like OP is shooting for older hardware, so I'm going to assume GPU performance isn't a significant consideration. Nouveau should be fine for regular desktop usage on older Nvidia cards.

But trouble with assumptions. If you do want the most out of your GPU, AMD is the way to go.

  • I don't know your life of course, so maybe this won't work for you. But I had a similar hangup. So I figured who it was really important to keep in contact with, made sure I had a way to do so (phone numbers, usually). Then deleted my account.

  • What's the problem? Good faith question, not being disagreeable. Does he go on about struggling actors in the documentary? Oh or a famous person using their fame to their advantage?

  • Yeah, I have to use Microsoft products for work and I've stumbled across their forums for issues before. I don't think it's ever once been helpful. Solutions on Linux forums are hit and miss, but still much better.

    Welcome to the Linux community!

  • I see myself as reasonably progressive and cultured. So I take no pride in admitting that dumb cgi action movies and scantily clad women are motivators to watch a movie, but they are so I looked this up. And wow it looks so bad, just the poster art alone.

  • The one for my city. Because of the small userbase and communities not spanning instances, I don't see this changing and I accept that.

Nothing else specific comes to mind. I like nerdy tech stuff, there's a lot of that here. But more variety of things outside that realm would be nice.

  • I guess it depends on what you use it for.

I have two use cases, personally.

    1. How to videos for stuff I don't know how to do. Like, fix a leaky spigot or something like that.
    2. Following content creators.

I could see PeerTube being fine for #1, but I don't see it ever being positioned as a viable option for those who want to generate reasonable profit for their content. Would be happy to be proven wrong though.
