  • Human feces/raw sewage in a stagnant, humid, concrete structure with poor circulation and no means of escape.

Also my dad has this little puss hole on his back that you can perpetually squeeze the most foul smelling stuff out of. It was a family event to squeeze in wonder.

  • This is a fair take.

Due the circumstances right now, we've got more tech and privacy minded people, as well as more "principaled" folk, so we definitely skew a certain way.

I'd say give it time. Imo, things will sort of water down if more people keep joining. (For lack of a better term)

But I will respectfully disagree, I'm kinda enjoying it, and I'm not half as smart as some of the people on here, but I do totally understand your perspective.

  • You can still browse reddit w RiF too, just not logged in. I just happen to like it here better.

  • The classic ones are still good, happy Gilmore, water boy, Billy madison, I mean come on. That's nostalgic stuff right there.

I'm probobly more of an art snob than your average person, but I can still consume those movies for sure.

I've never seen uncut gems though. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

  • Mint has become my fav as well. If not, it's gonna be chocolate. I don't like big hard chocolate pieces tho. Easy to chew ones plz. The big ones get hard af when frozen.

  • Puff or Poof.

  • Ya they were rolling back mass deleted/edited comments. That was a huge red flag for me, along with censoring info about lemmy etc. I don't need that in my life.

  • Upon my most recent browse, I have noticed a drop in engagement for sure, and my attention has been brought to many "how do you feel about X" comments that are poorly hidden bots driving discourse. Maybe I'm just more aware of it now though. I've definitely noticed a change though.

  • Something needs to die for you to survive, what and how much is up to your individual tolerance for input/output ratio.

Death and suffering is a natural state of being in nature. I can reduce it, but I still need to survive.

I hate fishing. I don't need to fish in my current station. If I did, I would fish.

  • I was actually thinking about this the other day for some reason. AI scraping my own original stuff and doing whatever with it. I can see the concern and I'm curious where this goes and how a court would rule on a pretty technical topic like this.

  • Yea. I think woman are wired to be more attracted to the actual qualities of a man and ability to provide over the aesthetic appeal, but both are good obviously. I'm not a women, but have had this conversation with my partner. So I'm an expert (;

Women are just better than men in a practical sense lol. I'm just a dumb man. But me do chores, me man, me get laid.

  • Yep. I'm a month in. I took a couple days break, and came back yesterday and it's moving along nicely. No drop in quality or anything, just more good content, and slightly faster paced discussion.

  • Truth.

  • This and big coal rolling, loud ass trucks.

Pick up trucks I get. I'm a tradesman.

But some trucks are absolutely massive, and more often than not MUCH more than the driver needs, and the coal rolling and loudness is just obnoxious af.

Cops still take it tho. Head on a swivel for those shills.

  • It was weird for me when I was finally older than my parents when they had me, and I was still a barely functioning human being. Props to you, mom and dad. You did the best you could and I appreciate that you brought me into this world (most days).

  • I'm over 30, but I'm tech stupid compared to everyone else here, but I can follow, and understand the jist ftmp of the conversation. Not my area of expertise. I grown up with the internet though obviously so I do know my way around.

If anything i'm probably just more open to new experiences than the average person, and I like learning stuff.

But in general I agree with your observations, and it seems natural for early adopters of a platform.

  • Just block the communities. It should be in one of the hamburger menus after you click on the community page. You can also block individual users.

There's also an option to hide nsfw from your feed, then it's down to mods to make sure everything labeled appropriately.

  • Drugs. A few times my harm reduction practices were shaky at best, though overall I was pretty good, but still. I wouldn't trade it for the world, but dumb nonetheless and life changing absolutely.

If only I could have the wisdom that comes from trauma without actually having to deal with trauma and it's circumstances...oh I guess life would be kinda dull that way though.

  • Yea I don't really see a solution besides slow ass progress which is kind of untenable anyway, and, generally speaking, I've never known a group of people to work together unanimously for good...rare at best, and usually only after some collective trauma, which we have largely desensitized ourselves to.

I'm definitely not being locked down, that's for sure. But that's just me. I don't fly, hell I barely drive outside of work. I don't know.

To install some sense of principle/awareness into a vast swath of people would take insane restructuring in my country at least.
