  • When I need to run multiple vms, work laptop is much stronger than personal laptop and there is usually no personal data related so sure. I've also used the only (work) iPhone I have for Apple related things, like using apple books, which is admittedly stupid but I consider anything I get from there single use either way and not particularly private either.

  • I can't find an image of it but the phone/watch concept shown in The Peripheral would be cool. Basically a touch screen that can be either flat and work like current smartphones or wrapped around your arm with the whole area being a screen (with a better interface than current smartwatches).

  • Dreams that feel like a creation

    • Moving through some amazing scenery (waterfalls and the sea always look great) and knowing this is all part of your imagination.
    • Trying food with really weird flavors that still taste great. I don't like food that much in real life.
    • A specific type of dream where you experience the plot in 1st person but there is also a voice over that you kinda control, in the style of a book. It's a bit weird but became much more frequent after I started reading more. Anybody else get this?
  • Recommendations on YouTube are pretty bad but there is still good content. You just need to find some good channels and basically only browse the subscriptions tab. It's a much better experience

  • I don't know if you count the A series but most people I know buy that and not the S series, and that's usually much cheaper than a pixel. Also I feel like it's an unpopular opinion here but I really like OneUI and once you get used to it, it may not be convenient to change back to stock.

  • I recently found out about URLCheck. You set it as default browser and it gives you a popup when clicking on a link. You can preview, edit the link and open it with the app you want instead of automatically opening it in its default app. Especially useful for apps that don't give a link preview on text like my comment that hide the link address.

  • It doesn't have to be a big emergency, FM can still be very useful. A few years ago there was an earthquake in my city that wasn't too big but we still had to evacuate the building. I don't remember any damage in my area but because everyone was trying to make calls there was ZERO cell service. So a bunch of people were gathered around my phone listening to a news station for updates because I was the only one who had brought headphones. Without FM this ability is now lost.

  • That's a good question, I'm not sure. I just make sure the file has the correct extension and it's opened with the correct app. I've never had an issue on android but I mostly download from the same site which seems to have good files (and always with adblock).

  • Specifically for books I pirate because I get a better product this way. I prefer reading on my phone and downloading an epub means I can open it in any app I want, add chapters and share it with whoever I want. If I could easily pay for a book and get the same experience without any drm or online account bullshit I would probably do it.

Physical books are also ok but buying anything not in my language means possibly waiting forever for it to arrive and paying more for transit costs. I may still do it if I really want to support the author but I'd rather have a way to pay them directly tbh.
