  • yes most people don't need it now, but then again most people didn't need 80/20 that long ago, as bandwidth goes up, use cases will go up. For me full fibre upgrade will be for more up-bandwidth more than anything.

  • Let me guess the arts are going to be considered unskilled jobs.

  • Looks like the BBC realised that headline was a shit and changed it.

  • I literally used the button in lemmy, they changed the title since I posted this.

  • This is the title strait from BBC...

  • Found money for this, but can't find money for HS2, active travel, railway ticket offices

  • Not that I agree with this law, but it should be applied to our ex PM who brought in similar laws

  • And just before a general election...

  • and now I finally get the pun 🤦

  • I god I hate the barriers, they are always half broken, and have caused so many useful side entrances and shortcuts to stations to be closed.

  • Public transport needs to be cheep, reliable, and often to work. You can get away with any two of these at a push. Public transport works in London because you know no matter when (within reason) you turn up another bus/train/tube will be there with 15mins.

  • People can't rely on buses that run like this would you risk getting a bus out somewhere if the only return bus might get cancelled?

  • Here is the issue with UK planning, first through it new roads, not new public transport.

  • Not long come back from Japan where the trains are super staffed and getting around was bliss (other than getting lost in the massive stations). Their train system is also privatised, if they can do it why can't we?

  • The great thing about ticket offices is if you need someone you know exactly where to find them.
