  • Not a good comparison. With Steam, you download the games to your computer. If Valve ever went out of business, they could unDRM the games, or you could crack them.

Either way, you download the games onto your computer. That's not the case with Funimation.

  • I don't know if I'm the only one who feels this way, but the new design makes it look more like a social media site than a forum.

  • Buying a digital copy of something you cannot download is an oxymoron. It only makes sense if you subscribe to a service.

  • Women ages 18-29 were 40 percent more likely to be liberal in 2023, a slight decrease from 41 percent in 2022 and 44 percent in 2020, but still higher than the 30 percent in 2013. Those ages 65 and older were 25 percent more likely to identify as liberal — a slight increase from the 21 percent reported in 2013.

But women of that age group need to vote! Seniors turnout is historically higher than the younger age groups and that trend needs to change.

  • I'm not new to Lemmy. I was just venting my frustrating against this attitude.

  • Unfortunately, unlike Australia, Canada is not an Island. The USA influences us easily.

  • It's looks nice. I think you will enjoy KDE, we don't have to worry about extensions compatibility when upgrading to a new version of Gnome.

  • 1984 :"Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.”

  • It is not. It is a demo. The company demonstrates the game to you. You're free to play it as long as you want so that you can make an informed decision afterwards.

  • And this is where pirating comes into play. For example, I bought Fifa 23 but because of the bundled anti-cheat giving me a lot of problems, I downloaded the cracked version.

  • It's a clash of two worldviews. The purest form of capitalism believes that the individual is selfish and thinks only of himself. Therefore, it's up to the individual to succeed no matter what, relying only on himself.

On the other hand, we have the Scandinavian system, where the individual is not inherently selfish, but selfless, it's all about reciprocity, helping each other.

To me, the purest form of capitalism is pure evil. It sees the world as half empty instead of half full.

Lunch debt should not be a thing.

  • I just love how professional the Lemmy instances have become. They went from having stability issues to being extremely stable. I love our Lemmy community.

    Keep up the good work!

  • It's good to be a Canadian :)

  • Run them in Bottle, then disable internet access for the games.

  • He sounds more and more like that famous character with the famous mustache...

  • I had numerous problems with Wayland when I had an NVIDIA video card. Since I switched to an AMD video card, it has been a blissful experience. Wayland now works perfectly.
