  • I loved Geocities. I personally had like five different pages on it, including one that acted like a virtual tour of a video game world I used to play where you would navigate through map screens and could "talk" to characters. My friends and I would also have a communal page, which worked like our own mini-reddit where we would post cool shit, and then webring to our individual sites. I also currently have an ad-free website, which I operate and create all the content for myself.

  • The last time I remember watching television must've been the early 2000s, and I remember watching a movie on TBS. They used to have commercial blocks every 20 minutes or so, which was a little annoying still, but at this point watching a movie was a commercial break every 5-8 minutes. It wasn't enough to get through a single scene sometimes, which is like somebody snatching a book out of your hand to tell you about products for three minutes as you're mid-chapter.

I started just buying DVDs instead and ended up with a great little library full of movies that I hand picked and all the special features that came with them. If the internet turns into what TV was like in those days, I'll simply start blocking sites that run heavy with ads and only white-list websites that respect an ad-free ecosystem.

  • Absolutely untrue. People run websites and pay for their servers themselves. People inherently want to post stuff on the internet and many websites don't have ads at all. Think of pretty much every old blog that used to exist, or every portfolio page for an artist. I will simply stop using Google's internet and that will be that. I pretty much already have to be honest, Google results are absolute dog shit.

  • Yeah, but doing that won't get them bonuses for hitting KPIs. They let the malware through because it means the company buying the adspace is buying adspace. Everything else doesn't factor into their targets and quarterly goals.

  • ?? Are you sure about that? I'm pretty certain that every hot tub at a public facility I've been to says to not exceed staying in for more than 20 minutes, and specially mentions to keep it lower if you're old, have high blood pressure, are pregnant, or under the age of 16.

Isn't part of the reason also because it's easy to get light headed or dizzy and just pass out and drown?

  • I don't think humans can live in that very long either. 38 degrees is the temperature you have when you have a fever. I'm pretty sure if you expose yourself to that for a while you will die. Maybe a doctor can verify this, but it doesn't sound good at all.

  • Oh. I mean, I get it to some extent, but according to the article, it states it was filmed before QAnon was a thing. It seems to just be piggybacking on the classic conspiracy of rich people taking children away for their own nefarious deeds, which... wasn't that the plot of Season 1 of True Detective? Also, wasn't it kind of the plot of real life, with the revelations of Epstein's whole operation?

I dunno man, I'll have to watch the movie to decide, but it seems like people are applying QAnon shit to this movie, when I'm skeptical as to that being the director/writer's intent. Especially since from what little I've read about the director, he doesn't seem like a conspiracy nut at all. Reminds me a lot of when the Proud Boys started wearing Fred Perry and all of sudden it was deemed a ultra-right brand.

  • I get what you’re saying that it’s pseudoscience, sorry to be blunt, prove it.

But medical experts have pointed out that there is absolutely no scientific evidence to back up these claims, pointing out that the diet could lead to vitamin deficiencies.

The carnivore diet has evolved from the keto and paleo diets, which eschew carbs in favour of protein and fat. Some followers of the lifestyle include fish, dairy products and eggs in their diets too.

Although there are health benefits to meat - it's a great source of protein, B vitamins, iron, zinc and magnesium - many nutritionists and dietitians have raised concerns that following the carnivore diet is unhealthy.

“I honestly think one of the biggest risks of the carnivore diet is colon cancer,” nutrition professor Rachele Pojednic told Lifehacker. “But we won’t have data on that for years to come (and this would also mean that someone needs to do a study on this diet, which I honestly don’t see happening).”

As the lifestyle advocates focussing on fatty meats, followers run the risk of raising their levels of LDL cholesterol, which can lead to an increased risk of heart disease and heart attacks.

“One thing you can't ignore is there are some nutrients you just can’t get from meat,” Harley Street nutritionist Rhiannon Lambert wrote on Instagram.

She explains that only eating meat deprives your body of folate, vitamins C and E, and fibre, which are all essential for good health: "that's why sailors used to get scurvy with not enough vitamin C in their largely fish diets."

What's more, subsisting on meat alone doesn't provide the body with fibre, which is essential to promote a healthy gut.

“Meat also tends to push the balance of our good and bad cholesterol (called HDL and LDL) towards the bad end,” the Re-Nourish author adds.

  • I mean, Barbie started out as anything but feminist, so maybe that's why. Didn't the Simpsons do a whole episode on how sexist the whole Barbie concept was back in the 90s? I honestly have no clue, I don't know fucking anything about Barbie.

  • What makes it a QAnon film? It's my first time hearing about it, but I enjoy a lot of those actors, and the synopsis doesn't seem overly right wing or anything. Seems like a paint by numbers vigilante cop movie.

  • They've had workarounds to this forever. Marvel movies just use CG background characters. The Matrix 3 used a couple of background actors and then cloned the rest. Star Wars phantom menace used little toothpick people. There is absolutely no reason for these policies other than abject greed.

  • Man, I dunno about you, but as someone who vaped and smoked weed a couple years back, the vaping was way worse for me. I would get these weird phlegmy coughs that I never got from smoking. I think part of it is that vapes hits feel so weak, so I would end up just power dragging my hits, causing this effect. There were days where I swear my lungs actually felt like they hurt.

Stopped vaping and haven't had this issue since. Anecdotal, but there you go.
