  • Why are you giving it data. It's a chat and language tool. It's not data based. You need something trained to work for that specific use. I think Wolfram Alpha has better tools for that.

I wouldn't trust it to calculate how many patio stones I need to build a project. But I trust it to tell me where a good source is on a topic or if a quote was said by who ever or if I need to remember something but I only have vague pieces like old timey historical witch burning related factoid about villagers who pulled people through a hole in the church wall or what was a the princess who was skeptic and sent her scientist to villages to try to calm superstitious panic .

Other uses are like digging around my computer and seeing what processes do what. How concepts work regarding the think I'm currently learning. So many excellent users. But I fucking wouldn't trust it to do any kind of calculation.

  • 😆 I can't believe how absolutely silly a lot of you sound with this.

LLM is a tool. It's output is dependent on the input. If that's the quality of answer you're getting, then it's a user error. I guarantee you that LLM answers for many problems are definitely adequate.

It's like if a carpenter said the cabinets turned out shit because his hammer only produces crap.

Also another person commented that seen the pattern you also see means we're psychotic.

All I'm trying to suggest is Lemmy is getting seriously manipulated by the media attitude towards LLMs and these comments I feel really highlight that.

  • Ok what about tech journalists who produced articles with those misunderstandings. Surely they know better yet still produce articles like this. But also people who care enough about this topic to post these articles usually I assume know better yet still spread this crap

  • I guess it's just not adding anything. And when a post is filled with it then it devalues the whole place and it makes it harder to find people with something of substance. It also makes it more likely for people with something to say to avoid these places as it just becomes toxic and annoying to wade through "hey fuck that guy" comments. Who wants to read that over and over and over again on every post

  • So what?

I do it a lot with my comments because I'm older and my grammar is terrible but I feel like I have ideas I would like to share but struggle to make them sound clear or even concise.

My longer ranty grammatically poor comments are me. My clearer comments that get better engagement from people and understanding are my comments that I asked chatgpt to improve.

I don't see why this is a bad thing. It is a chat tool. I like tech. I'm all for anyone using a language tool to produce language based products. As long as it isn't doing the work and is being reviewed then I would question anyone who isn't using it.

Here I'll run this comment through AI again to show the improvement:

    Destroy humanity destroy destroy destroy

  • Yes like there needs to be a serious investigation if they ever get back in power.

Oh shit it makes sense now why they cover their faces.

If they showed their face then there is a chance they could be held accountable later on. I mean I know that was the underlining thing but now that I'm thinking that there could be a future investigation to hold them accountable that there is possibly no fucking way. It's not like people on the street recording them illegally kidnapping people can be used since they're completely covered.

  • They need to stop doing this type of thing. Maybe it's time they show up with their own armed security and force their way in. I don't know. Something.

Democrat leaders showing up and getting arrested or sent away is not a good look. It's like instilling learned obedience. They need to actually do something instead of showing up knowing they're going to get punched in the face just so they can highlight how mean the Republicans are. If they are showing up to inspect then they need the legal knowledge and have the power to see it through.

The Republicans backed by legal minds at groups like heritage foundation are leveraging the law. Do these Democrats not have their own legal teams and groups researching how to get things done?

It's leaving me feeling like this is all theater

  • Don't they lay this amount off every year?

Their workforce is upwards of 200,000. During COVID it was only 100,000. 2006 it was 60,000. But they lay off 9000 and it's because of AI?

Why is this AI and not just business as usual?

I've been saying for a bit that these AI headlines in Lemmy are similar to anti immigrant headlines in Republican social media groups. I feel like this is just more evidence of it. It's yellow journalism tactics
