What "market pressure" are you talking about? The game topped charts because it seemingly wasn't afraid to have an attractive female lead while backing that up with fun gameplay. The difference with the Sonic movie was that no one liked the original design, and the movie wasn't patched after people bought tickets.
Sony has a history of censorship on games that were fine on pc. And who are you to tell people what they can and can't enjoy?
The whole reason why this game had such a massive large player count in the demo version was because it was following marketing demands ie. Gamemechanics, soundtrack, story, and attractive characters. You can't market the game as being "uncensored in all regions" and show trailers of the uncensored version of the game if your end product is actually censored.
Since we've "figured it out," we've made sure that most people don't have access to basic services unless they spend huge amounts of money and that the planet is in a state of disaster.

The 5 was originally supposed to be a smaller version of the 1, so from what I remember, the 10 series is their midrange.
