  • You can. You can set a video as "internal only". So only users registered on the server, can watch it.

  • Video from PeerTube and Loops is not embedded. Is it possible to be able to play videos directly in Voyager?

  • Sometimes I’m far down in a thread and then swipe back to my subscribed list, but then I regret and go back into the thread. It would be nice if it remembered my last position in a thread. Maybe just for a few seconds, in case.

  • Why don’t you just keep away from c/all and stick to your subscribed communities?

To discover new communities, I suggest subscribing to c/newcommunities

  • I installed this at my work. Became pretty popular 😎

  • I’ll install it on my server, once I have it up and running. I promise 😁

  • What’s a mainstream instance?

  • There is an index maintained by Framasoft (devs of PeerTube), but it is something the servers need to enable. A lot don’t.

  • We had vidcommons.org once, that hosted a lot of CC content. Unfortunately the owner couldn’t afford to keep it running.

If you now a source of CC videos, let me know.

  • Maybe Liberapay built-in? I’m sure a plugin could fix that.

  • It’s a plugin that the admin of the server need to install, for you to be able to use it.

  • You could comment from your Lemmy or Mastodon account.

  • There’s actually a plugin for PeerTube that generates subtitles for videos.

  • Wouldn’t really make much of a difference in what server you choose, if the goal is to get “away” from Lemmy.world. The majority of users is from there.

Maybe it’s not the server, but more the community that’s an issue for you?

  • Peertube does not suffer from this actually. On Peertube, the instances (servers) follow each other. Making all the content available on both.

  • I imagine one of the reasons for this, is because people don’t have their cars serviced yearly. Most other car manufacturers require you to have your car serviced once a year.

  • There should be a link, that redirects you to the registration page of a random (maybe based on geo ip) Lemmy server. Just don't mention to the user that they have a choice of servers. Just have them register and get on. Later, while using the Fediverse, they will learn how it works and be able to understand what it means to choose a Lemmy server yourself.

Anything else is just too complicated for the average person, I think. Hell, I think domain names other than lemmy.xxx is confusing some people.

  • When you search for "Reddit" in the app store and it also shows an app for Lemmy, we are getting there.

  • "I'm very tech-savvy, but I don't understand how the Fediverse work" - Then continues to write FUD... I'm so tired lol
