Back when I was on reddit, they had tipofmyjoystick which was pretty helpful. If you aren't opposed, everyone there was very knowledgeable. I liked frequenting that sub because it was like a guessing mini game each day, but you got to help people find games they miss.
I have no idea how wide spread this is. But I recently heard that there's this experimental drug Pluvicto that has helped people recover from advanced prostate cancer. I didn't think you could come back from advanced cancer either, but who knows at this point.
I could be wrong here, but this feels like a larger trend of trying to consolidate profits. Cut out anything/anyone "unnecessary". Similar to the whole AI trend.
Someone on lemmy recently put this into perspective for me. Even like 1% of the population of the USA is 3 million people. If you increase the cost of a product and don't care about long-term sales, the immediate gain in profit can outweigh the loss of total customers down the line.
I still think cutting off customers and burning good will isn't a good business model, but I'm not stupid wealthy, so what do I know.
Thanks for the kind words. I guess it's just very difficult to fit into whatever mold these companies are looking for. It feels like they want a unicorn or a robot. And if you don't somehow match their very specific buzzwords, your resume doesn't get looked at.
It makes me feel like I'm not enough. I'm quite uncertain as to how I'll make enough of a living going forward in the future, but I guess I shouldn't worry about it too much. Stuff usually works out right? Haha
The whole article aside, looking for jobs really sucks. It's painful. Honestly, I'm probably just weak, but job searching sends me into a spiral of depression that lasts weeks.
I just want artists to keep making art. That's what makes it cool. If you just offload it onto a machine, it cheapens whatever you created. There's definitely some good reasons to use AI. But it feels like the majority of companies are just using it for the buzzword, and in the hopes it will make them money
I finally finished persona 3 reload. I skipped part of the DLC because more dungeons sounded like torture at that point. But otherwise it was great.
I started playing blue prince and then, after a few hours, realized the name was a play on words for blueprints. Doh. It's been interesting. I am kind of getting a bit tired of the RNG of filling out the house, but I'm getting enough progress made to keep me going.
I've also been playing the oblivion remake, and it's been a lot of fun! It's like the ratatouille meme while playing. It's nice. Oddly cozy
I'm recovering from a cold, which is nice. As much as it feels bad, it feels great knowing each day is going to improve. I've been trying to find a cosy slice of life manga or something to read the past while. I feel like I should be reading more!
I've been playing the oblivion remake. It's nice to revisit the game after so long. It's cool because although I put in hundreds of hours in as a kid, I don't remember a lot of it now. So it's exciting to have my memory jolted every once an a while lol
I can't imagine doing this to yourself. But I can see what leads people to do this. I've been streaming for a year now, but I've drawn a line where it is only during my off hours, and I keep weekends for myself. I do it during my hobby time.
The issue with our society is that we're constantly supposed to min max everything. If you aren't all in, your chances of success are lower. We see this manifest in various ways. For example, companies try to skip out on safety if they're allowed to. People will take on multiple jobs. Without restrictions, some of us will push ourselves to our limits because we see no way out of our situations.
On the flip side, you see people just giving up. Like with the laying flat movement. Why play the game if you'll never win?
I don't really have a point to my ramblings. It's just something I've been thinking about for a while. I'm not really sure what the solution is as the system is bigger than us. I guess this disfunction is just a symptom of a greater issue.
20,000 troops do not appear out of thin air. So who are these people and what kind of training do they have? It sounds like he's creating some kind of gang. This could be a boiling point for people
Nobody wants to be violent. But how do you stop a violent oppressor without force? You can't. You can resist, but ultimately, whoever uses more force will win.
He's really not thinking. I hope he tariffs everyone harder. Let's get everyone pissed and ready for protest.
We've really come to the "You'll slave away and not be able to afford anything" stage. It's kind of exciting. I hate it, but I also want him to go faster. Crash and burn faster. Maybe regulations will come in after he's removed, and we can possibly see some improvements in our lifetime.
Not defending AI here, but this sounds like people who are sick with some kind of illness are going down a rabbit hole with AI, and are unable to differentiate between imaginary and reality.
We had a family friend who worked with jewelry his whole life. He got some kind of poisoning from something he worked with. Lead? Mercury? I cannot recall
Anyways he started believing he was some kind of messenger from God. Nobody figured out it was poisoning for years. He was such a nice guy. He just wanted to help people. Once they figured it out, he was treated and went back to his normal self.
Every time I read more about Facebooks BS, the crazier it sounds. But I remember having a very similar issue with it. It kept feeding me political content I would get upset with. It was great at that, and so I stopped using it all together.
It truly seems like it's a perfect storm of manipulation.
Ahh, that's something I didn't consider. EA did that recently with the Sims 1&2. Something like that at least. I hate that. At the very least, both options should be available.
In the case with the Sims, they didn't include regional variants of the game, and they also were missing an ikea dlc due to licensing
