  • They are literally not as bad as the GOP on all of those issues, and you even pointed that out on half of them.

    I stand by my point.

  • "Bernie didn't win so primaries aren't useful" is a pretty weak ass argument.

I like Bernie. I voted for him, I door knocked for him, I phone banked for him, I've been to his rallies. Bernie. Did. Not. Get. Enough. Votes. End of story. If you can't win the Democratic primary (even with DNC bullshit), I'm skeptical you'll win the general. We didn't turn out in high enough numbers in both the 2016 and 2020 primaries. That's what happened.

You won't force the party to change by playing by its rules.

And you won't beat the 2 party system without capturing one of the parties or burning the entire thing to the ground.

  • So contrary to democrats who usually don’t deliver in their promises Trump can at least says that he tries damn hard to deliver on his promises.

I know this will be conflated to me being supportive of what he does. So let me clarify that I’m not endorsing it, I’m just stating the fact that Trump goes so far as to break the law in order to deliver his promises, while democrats work really hard to maintain the status quo even while having legal and political power to make real change. This is part of his appeal, a detail which should not be lost on democrats.

We're pretty much in agreement here. I simply disagree that Democrats do the same things as Republicans when in office. While I may vehemently disagree with most of their strategy, the Democratic party isnt nearly as big of a threat as the GOP.

  • do the same things the republicans

I missed the part where the Democrats were cutting social security, Medicare, and Medicaid. And repealing the ACA. And attacking LGBTQ people. And deploying the military against American civilians. And sending people to foreign gulags en mass without trial. And attacking voting rights.

Yep, they sure are the same.

  • If we all want to rally behind the Democratic Party to oppose it, they must be similarly purged of the corruption that allowed this to happen and continues to enable it. Then and only then can they provide a credible grassroots opposition. Otherwise, we're just running on the same corrupt treadmill we always have been on.

Unfortunately a sizable chunk of people would rather burn the whole thing down than put in the necessary work to do this. (See: every fucking primary turnout ever).

  • that algorithms they use act as a filter based on your previous clicks

Along with pushing right wing content that's completely out of step with reality, which they love to inject into people's feeds because it drives engagement.

  • I believe the succubus is returned back to hellfire once they depart this plane of existence.

  • not issues that affect a miniscule minority

I am a straight white dude and the attack on trans people very much affects me. It affects all of us. They aren't going to stop there. I'm not willing to toss our friends and family to the wolves because we apparently have better things to focus on. We can speak to pocketbook issues while protecting people at the same time. It's not a binary choice.

  • Would you mind sharing where you read that?

  • Been having a great time getting my shit pushed in by Shai-Halud. We've almost got an ornithopter built.

  • It's okay. 40 fps with fsr3. I have been sticking with my desktop for that reason. The game is absolutely fantastic though.

  • What the fuck are you talking about? Harris wasn't going to cut FEMA funding and Democrats aren't the ones cutting programs that provide school funding, cleaner environmens, and better funded healthcare. The votes these people made are a direct cause of the shit sandwich they're about to eat, it's perfectly reasonable to make sure they understand that. Do you just start at "both sides are equally bad" and work backwards every time?

  • I'll be open carrying tomorrow. These fuckers need to understand we're prepared to fight to the death over this.

Edit: make sure you check your local laws before doing this

  • I fucking hate Chris Christie, but I wouldn't put him in the same camp as scum like Rubio and Cruz. He genuinely appears to hate Trump.

  • The reason it being turned off matters is because LE has a significantly more difficult time extracting data from that state. And again, a proper faraday bag prevents signal leak.

You guys are welcome to do what you want, I'm just explaining the best way to stay safe if you don't want to leave your phone at home. There are plenty of legitimate reasons someone may want one as a lifeline just in case.

  • Unless your device is already compromised, that information isnt being logged when the device is powered off so it's kind of moot.

  • I'm talking about an actual faraday bag, not a foil bag. That, combined with a powered off device keeps you fairly protected. They aren't going to get into your phone if it's powered off.

it also provides an alibi. "see, my phone was here all day long."

There's going to be a deviation in usage regardless, it's not providing an alibi. A gap of time when you're not using your device that you normally would be is a marker they look for. They key is keeping them locked out (again, power them off).

  • My opinion is we should stop giving JK Rowling money and push her out to sea on a small iceberg.
