If whatever you're doing works with av1 then I'd say go for it. I do AV1 for Plex since all of my devices can hardware decode, however I keep my own videos at h264 software encoded (for smaller filesizes) since Synology photos doesn't support AV1.
I use tdarr for my large scale conversions to AV1 but I use shutterencoder for everything else. It's like handbrake but friendly for working in large batches and the UI is really nice https://www.shutterencoder.com/en/
It will add H265 to the end of the name too
Gonna agree or disagree with both of you - I think gaming is worse most of the time on an ultra wide but doing productivity side by side is really cool, and like you mentioned watching movies works very well with 2.4:1 or similar aspect ratios
As a kid I used to have keybinds setup in Jedi Outcast (bind k "NPC spawn stormtrooper")that would let me spawn different enemies on me while notarget was on and g_saberrealisticcombat at 3. Hours of entertainment till the game would inevitably crash from too many enemies
Is TTS voice replication much better self hosted than it was about half a year ago? Last time I tried it didn't sound like the person I had samples of, instead I had to use elevenlabs to get close to sounding right
If you're playing the game vanilla you won't really miss anything, assuming you own all of the DLCs/expansions. Both games are modable but in my experience special edition is much more stable
I'm there too. I was really excited for the game. Didn't watch any promotional material. Have never seen a trailer for the game and stayed away from any media of it. I got bored so fast and I can't force myself to keep playing it as it felt like there was nothing more to see after the first few hours
This is a difficult one for me as I grew up with both (started work green leaf & GB pinball as my first Pokemon games) bit I think I agree, explorers of time/darkness was a much better game than any of the mainline Pokemon games were
Yeah if any dealerships near me ever had any in stock I probably would have bought one by now on impulse, I wish you could purchase it without any kind of dealership intervention though
Yeah I'm pretty split right now between getting a bolt while they're still available or waiting and hoping the equinox is as good as they are saying it will be. I definitely want an EV at some point though my current (ancient) car currently does the job for short trips
Maintenance is something I've been thinking about a lot, thanks for mentioning it. I know it's supposed to be a lot cheaper than other cars but at the same time I'm curious what maintenance looks like 10+ years out, in other words older than probably most of the bolts out there. I appreciate the comment though!
I've had one of these running for years, honestly I didn't expect it to last this long as it looks really cheap
