  • Imo TE has always been a shady company in terms of business decisions. I still for the life of me cannot understand why the OP-1 is over 2 grand. It's a music making machine with a cruddy keybed that's not even volocity sensitive that's also intentionally limited in terms of how you can use it.

Now, don't get me wrong. I definitely think it's a cool little device capable of doing cool things. But there's no way in hell this tiny thing is worth 2k. You can spend 1/4th of the price on something like an elektron Digitakt or a polyend play and get very similar functionality in an arguably better more robust package.

TE are a boutique company that intentionally releases overpriced products so they can have this reputation of being a "premium" company. Just like Apple. If it weren't for their pocket operators (which are arguably closer to being toys than actual audio equipment) I wouldn't think they'd have anything remotely worth buying.

Side note: the playdate looks adorable. But, similarly to the OP-1, is very overpriced for what it does.

  • Yes, let's try to pick apart the one hyperbolic statement he made and completely ignore all of his other valid points. Let's also link a very biased article about Wikipedia that has absolutely nothing to do with anything as some sort of proof that China is some bastion for workers rights. It's not like they literally force people into labor camps simply for being minorities or anything.

The US is far from perfect but let's not pretend they somehow have worse labor rights than freaking China.

  • Everyone is treating this like this guy is actively saying Biden isn't going to be on the ballot. But he's just saying dates conflict and it's a minor problem than needs to be fixed. Seems like no bigger deal than a work email from that annoying coworker pointing out some minor problem like it's a huge issue. Yes Carl, I know we won't have enough paper for the copier to last the rest of the quarter. I'll order more. It's fine.

  • Depends on where you're eating honestly. Some places call long flat fries home fries and other places call just like cubed fried potatoes home fries. Basically any fried potatoe shape that's not shoestring French fries might be called "home fries".

  • I imagine it's the same reason I like movies and music that came out before I was born. You don't have to be generationally tied to something to like it. People are going to like good things if they're good. I don't feel like it really matters when something came out.

According to Uconn there is no significant overlap between the two broods. So while there will be cicadas in a wider area than normal it's not like there's going to be a bigger density of cicadas. This will likely be no different than any other brood year for most people. And if it's anything like the brood we had in MD not that long ago it's going to be a lot less dense than people are expecting.

  • Reading through the article he actually seems to indicate the opposite. He actually specifically mentions how he's frustrated when trying to use windows handhelds because of windows things and that he needs to take ownership over those issues. And he talks about bringing Xbox games (seemingly implying gamepass) to other devices. The phrase "every screen is an Xbox" came up. He also mentioned that they mocked up a windows gaming handheld at some point but nothing came to fruition.

Seems like, at least from what he said here, that they are at least looking into bring gamepass to steam deck.

Of course saying something and actually doing something are two entirely different things so we'll see I guess. I'm not holding my breath.
