I'm somewhat amused that they're hyping the color options in a breathless excited way as if it was a great new feature that changed the world.

Okay everybody - this is one of those good things that the Biden Administration and Democrats are doing to properly run government.

It is also something that most people will not know about. Why? Because it's not a simple sound bite.

So my homework to all of us is to make sure our friends and Neighbors who are complaining about government not doing anything for us to point this and similar things out to them.

Real benefits, real work is almost never easily described in sound bites. So many people believe the Democrats don't do what they say they're going to do because getting s*** done is too complicated for most people.

All I can say is that it is kinda cathartic that someone other than me is experiencing this nightmare.

I'm curious - why use a VM ? What is the context here? Are you using a Linux phone and need Android apps to fill gaps, or are you running this in a laptop and use Android in some way I don't understand?

Plus, it is idempotent, which means you don't have to change it before pushing it to an existing infrastructure. If you do change it, the infrastructure will be updated to match. It ends the need for custom deployment scripts.

I have found a library that had equipment to transfer to DVD, however if the tape has copy protection it won't work. I'll find out. Plus, I can buy a DVD version - I found it in searches - but I already own this and don't want to buy it again.

That is inconvenient, but one could use a USB stick. It only makes sense if you're sitting in a table and you have a fairly High charge on your phone. Any mobility and you could damage your port and the stick.

It's also easy to lose a USB stick, and I don't think you can have an encrypted one in this scenario.

I like to have music, pics, etc., local, too. However I'm not going to take a subpar device just to have SD, so I compromise.

I rotate my music selection. I offload older camera media to my NAS at home, etc. Since where I am, I get WiFi almost every where I go, I can remote connect to my NAS. I rarely do because I have to deactivate my protective VPN to use my personal VPN for my link (safety first). So I'm effectively in the same situation.

When Google first announced that external cards were "evil", I knew instantly that was because they want us to store our data in their cloud. Various articles, marketing flat out pushed that solution.

I went the easy route and bought synology, set up a raid 6, and it saved me within 1 year.

Raid 6 spreads data wide enough to survive 2 concurrent drive failures. I had one drive fail enough to degrade the raid, and while I was awaiting a replacement (warrenty replacememt), a second drive started to fail. I bought a replacement for that, inserted it, then got the first replacement and inserted that. No losses, and I now have a drive in stock waiting for the next failure. It's been at least 5 years without failure, so I am due.

Schedule an integrity check once a quarter or month to protect against bit rot. The danger with bit rot is you won't know you have it until drives fail. If integrity is compromised, the shit hits the fan when you are syncing up the new drive, the system cannot recover, and you lose everything. That is when you start over with your verified backup. If that's bad, goodbye data.

I second the vote for cheogram. As for the pending conversations ui overhaul, of which I know nothing, that should automatically transfer over to cheogram once it goes public. Cheogram extends conversations, wndci don't think they changed ui code.

Anybody who bought one of those in 2020 was a moron and deserved to have them die "unexpectedly".

That depends on how well it blocks adware and malware at the system level, and how much control it has over individual permissions for each app.

I'll take a closer look at Grapheme since I'm hearing a lot more positive reviews lately.
