  • And yet more women are being hired in high paying jobs than men, and more women are going to college than men. The imbalance is worse than the one that brought title 9 into existence.

I'm still waiting for the call to resolve the plight of men. The usual response i hear goes from "great!" To "they need to man up and work harder". All I hear is how men are the problem, looking at women can bring harassment charges, and women deriding men on social media being cheered.

  • It is mentioned to highlight the absurdity of the use of dark patterns in propaganda. Tell me, what do you think the response to "1 in 7 HR heads think men aren't good for profitability in top roles"?

If you think that would generate outrage, you are delusional. I frequently see comments and policies discriminatory to men applauded and "kill all men" comments ignored or even liked.

  • If I went through the work to wipe the partitions, it would doubtlessly have the same effect as turning off wifi in bios. That would have been my next attempt. It's more work than disa Ling wifi at the bios level.

  • Alternative headline, "Six out of seven HR heads think either think gender is irrelevant or prefer women in top jobs".

If even 14% of children prefer peanut butter over almond butter, there's a bias problem, amirite? We must do something about the bias against almond butter!

  • I set up the mount points in configuration as dynamic NFS volumes and added Bookmarks to nautilus. You can get to the volume either with cd command or right-click -> terminal here. You can shut down the NAS and only lose the share, which returns when the system goes online.

This is much better than WbDAV, which is fine for simple sharing or for devices that can't handle NFS easily like Android phones.

  • While many devices don't have ROMs built for them, any recent device should work with a GSI.

I just bought a tab s8, as I know Andy yan's LineageOS 20 works on it from other users' reports. I currently use it on my old tab 10.8 2019.

  • We are 90% there already. In many states, solar panels and usage have extra taxes. Most solar installations are grid tied and electricity sale prices to the company are fixed at a small fraction of their sale prices from those companies. Worse, if power goes out, you can't use solar to stay electrified because electricity would leak out and potentially electrocute nearby line men.

  • I had that problem, but I never thought it was ADHD. It turned out to be sleep apnea, and I had it for a while undiagnosed. I was 32 when I found out and not overweight.

I get the effect you describe when I am doing highly social things like parties, festivals, or public entertainment events. I attribute this to introversion rather than ADHD.

  • You are getting nothing but angry pushback, so I am here to let you know that at least one lemmite agrees with you.

I don't know if ACAB is a disinformation campaign by Russia and China, but I do know they have been stoking the division here in many ways on social media, so I feel you are not "fringe/crazy" for wondering if it is true.

I know a few police and fire responders, who are Latino and are stand up individuals. They are not racist.

We must strive to differentiate the fiends from the people who only want to do the right thing and resist the easy trap of generalization.

  • So you're all in on the ever increasing cost of internet service, then? You are pleased that getting more than 25 mbits requires an extra $30 per month and gigabit rates are well past $150?

Damn. You be you, but I'd rather not be fleeced while they also strip me of my privacy rights.

Thankfully we actually got a competitor here recently and went from $90 for 25mbits up, 5 down to $68 for 1gig up/down.

Yes, that is how bad it is in America. 3 years ago that $90 was $60, after I knocked it down from $90 by dropping my data rate and ditching their minimal cable plan that mostly had shopping channels on it and HBO Max, only viewable on my phone, and I never managed to get it to work.

Their rates consistently go up by up to 10% per year with zero improvements.

  • Wait until you are 50. Anyway, this reminded me of this little gem

Actually, I'm past my 30s and my main complaints are lack of flexibility, and difficulty keeping my weight under control. More focus on exercise would likely help.

  • Also, as the children become accustomed to having no freedom or privacy, it becomes easier to force it on them as adults.

This is pernicious totalitarianism. Anything you have ever done can be used against you if the state decides you are a threat.

Constant surveillance leads to more obedience, due to fear.
