  • Roughly 500 years ago, maybe more. Recordings are spotty up to the 19th century. Monestaries often had a daily log of current weather, for example. There are likely recovered observations going back to Greek or Roman civilizations.

Average temperatures can be deduced from scientific observations of ice cores and geological records as well. The arctic and antartic ice cores revealed detailed oxygen, carbon dioxide, and particulate data going back a couple million years.

  • KDE Connect utilizes SSHFS in order to securely and wirelessly mount your Android device's file system to your computers. You will be able to browse all of the files on your device via your preferred file manager whether that be Dolphin, Nemo, Nautilus, Thunar, etc.

  • I don't know which is worse:

    1. Finally doing it, and it took very little time and effort, leaving me angry at myself for putting it off so long, or
    2. Doing it, taking all day, all night, finally leaving it unfinished at 3 am, berating myself for wasting so damn much time on this piece of sh*t I knew would be a nightmare!
  • It's gimped for me because it insists on using an insecure sftp algorithm, so I cannot use the file system browser to transfer files to/from my Android 13 devices. It probably can't access the root anyway. I want to use it for backing up my device files, especially the Android folder.

Everything else seems to work though.

  • Once one gets to a high level of expertise, it seems there are fewer peers around - people who can teach something new, or give a perspective not already explored.

It all depends on where you work, and whether there are any user groups frequented by veterans.

  • I am experiencing the same kind of problems right now. I'm convinced that a large part of it is depression. I got an ADHD diagnosis couple of decades ago as an adult. I'm very successful at what I do and make decent money. He felt that I had done a great job of coming up with compensations for my problem.

However lately those compensations aren't working. I look at my list of things to do, and I just can't do them. I'm in the state where the key things I need to do cause me such emotional pain that I avoid them. This to me is depression.

It appears depression magnifies the problems caused by ADHD. One has an additional layer of "what's the point of all this? It won't change anything", going through one's head. It saps the will, which is needed to overcome the initial motivation barrier.

Now, instead of having to smash through one stone wall, one has to smash through two..

  • Thank you for sharing that video. I watched it, and I am definitely ADHD. Although there are times when some of the autism characteristics do resonate.

For example, there's one time when I had a a teacher explaining matrixes and I raised my hand and asked him why we are learning this (which caused considerable snickering on class, and obvious embarrassment for the teacher).

I generally do need to understand why we're learning something in order to have enough interest to focus on it.

However I don't think that's autism, as I feel that it is difficult for anybody to learn something if they don't even understand how it is to be used.

  • Not fact. It's my opinion based on the actions I see, and the fact things started to go down hill after the investors gave money. One of the big ones was Chinese.

We've seen how things go down when China is involved - loans to poor nations, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the disputed islands with Japan, Tibet, the Urghurs.

We've seen the various iterations of the "oops how did that key logger get in there?" discoveries (Lenovo, i'm looking at you), corporate espionage, Huawei telecommunications infrastructure being used to tap communicatons, etc..

Strict control of pretty much everything is the pattern, in which disinformation is easily dispensed and difficult to identify.
