  • It's interesting he went s far as to include UseNet, but did not cover the networked BBS subject. I wonder if he even knows about them. I find most younger people have no idea what a BBS is, or how they worked.

I was exchanging email with people as far away as Finland who had the common interest of Amiga computers. I am in the USA, and that was in 1985 or 6.

  • As an American, all I can do is hope my peers finally pull their heads out of their collective asses and fucking do something.

Looking around, I sadly do not expect it to happen. People are still saying global warming is a "woke" conspiracy of lies.

Part of our own government is actively trying to destroy the efforts of the Biden administration to get us off fossil fuels, or regulate anything.

Sadly, I think it is too late for us. Gods help us.

  • I have. Years after my adult diagnosis, I finally caved in and got medication. You are definitely playing life on hard mode.

The path to the easier mode won't be fast unless you are lucky. I first took Vivance because that was all my plan would cover, and I got the "sudden rages" side effect, which affected work.

Adderall works better for me, but I'm trying some other stuff too as I think it is not solving the problem as much as I initially thought. It gets me to the point where I can focus and be motivated to act until early afternoon, and I'm not sure the focus/attention part is as good as I need. For the moment, I have a supplemental low dose at 1pm.

What I still lack is good executive function: decicive decisions, with subsequent actions. It's better, but I don't see it as anywhere near "the norm" yet.

  • Not at all, but the people who do this outsized patriotism are often the same ones that storm capitols, threaten "immigrants" some of whom are 2nd or 3rd generation Americans, and are on-board with banning books.

  • Idn raw dollars, yes, but you are committing labor, which has a value. If you are being paid $60/hr at a job, theoretically you should multiply the hours of labor you put on by that value. Of coursevwe know a labor of love should not really be calculated that way, but it is a useful metric.

I remember several of the brews I did were two-stage. They started inn a plastic bucket, then moved to a glass carboy. These produced more sophisticated flavors and clearer beers. That is labor intensive and adds labor and risk of contamination during transfer.

Then there is the bottling process! That's fun for the first 10 minutes.

  • A person who pays attention, I see.

The Republican playbook is entirely sociopathic, self-seving deceit. I refuse to vote for anyone who joins their ranks no matter how sane they present themselves to be. As a result, people often label me as a flaming liberal.

I am not a leftist, and have non-tribal conservative beliefs in some domains, but nuance is rarely seen and when it is, it is not tolerated.

Thus, I am, in tribal terms, an outcast and lone wolf. Shamed by leftists when they learn I hold a non-tribal belief, hated by conservatives on general principle.
