They are all the same. A f150 has same gas image as jeep and if you need to haul you have a bed. No one drives a jeep or suv because they get better gas mileage than a truck.
Isn't that a game?where you try to get someone to look at your ok hand gesture? And then you lose the game..... also I just now lost the game too in addition to that hand sign game... :(
The joke was that if you typed your password into chat, then chat would add ***** for everyone else but still show you your own password.
So for instance if I type my password out ******** it will show as just *s to you because it's auto censored by the system since it's my password. But it wont censor it for me since it knows that I already know my own password. You can test it by typing out your password. You'll see your own password but everyone else will just see *'s
The NBA bot / thread thing doesnt bother me at all. That sort of content makes sense even if people are not discussing every game. But a lot of these bots are just spamming completely random content with no engagement.
It's worth discussing though. And again, I dont have a solution. To me it just looks bad. The NBA thing and a few other bot accounts dont really both me as much as this youtube repost bot does just because they dont clutter up the top feeds like this bot does. Not sure even how they are getting into the top feed other than having other bot accounts upvote the content.
I agree on principal but right now lemmy doest work that way. If I go to lemm.ee and select local, top 12 hours 5 posts on that first page are from this youtube bot / community. If I go to page 2 17 of the posts are from this bot / community. Page 3 has 11 posts from them. This goes on for page after page until you hit the end of Top 12 hours.
Not a single one of those has any comments either. So I'm not sure how this is "top" except for the fact that they all have 3 upvotes (probably from upvote bots)
It's a problem and a misrepresentation of lemmy to new users.
I have one phone... I've got three desktops at home, one laptops plus two steamdecks, two servers and one ipad we never use.
At work we have 15 desktops plus 2 servers and 4 laptops.
I dont know how people live with just a phone as a "computer". I couldnt even live with just a laptop... Like what are you people doing just browsing tiktok and youtube?
Is there a benefit of Matrix vs Revolt? I've not looked into either of them really. Revolt was the one everyone seemed to be pushing recently. This is the first I've heard of Matrix.
Lemmy itself seems fine reading wise. The main issues I have with it are that the communities are spread to thin with everyone making their own niche communities that have little to no activity and thousands of 0 comment posts. Wouldnt be that bad except the sort options for lemmy seem to not work that great and I dont want to spend the time curating from an every changing list of communities just to propagate my feed... because at this point it seems like a waste with servers federating and unfederating. The 3 main servers I tried sofar have been unfederated from the largest gaming community of lemmy which makes them almost useless to me.
Lemmy still needs a lot of work to be a good replacement for reddit. Better sorting options would go a long way and maybe allowing each server to have a "home page" that lists their own curated and popular communities as a home page.
Right now I can connect just fine. But its been sporadic all weekend.
