  • Just to throw it out there, 86 is also used in the film industry (at least in LA) meaning to cancel or get rid of something. It's very widely used across the industry. I don't know of any other slang that is shared between restaurants and film though.

  • Because satire tends to be lost on conservatives nowadays:

The above comments are SATIRE, meaning we are JOKING and DO NOT bbq, eat, or punt babies, because killing babies is BAD.

And before some smartass points to abortion rights as "killing babies," well you'll be shocked to hear that adding restrictions to reproductive care actually INCREASES infant mortality (which means more babies die, which is BAD).

  • I would happily award comments or posts with lemmy gold or whatever if it actually went to server costs and the like. But the enshittification of reddit and every other major platform has made me wary to spend any money on anything.

  • If the sensor is the same size the lens corrections should be identical. Now if it communicates focal length info into the metadata (on a zoom lens), or any data for that matter, that's a different issue

  • Uh, username doesn't check out?? I suppose you could have thawed long ago and had time to adjust to modern life and aquire many pants

Jk I love how you can write like you've been put on the spot and need to answer quickly

It is pretty interesting to see the viral videos of 16+ years ago and how they're both similar and different to what makes the rounds today. I'm sure there's video essays and retrospectives that would do a better job of analyzing them than me but I'm just here to link the originals. Cheers.
