  • I personally am a sucker for Chinese Designed UIs, they’re really well polished and thoroughly skinned for Android, and Harmony OS (no matter what Huawei says about it, I’m still inclined to believe it’s Android) is no exception to that. The ecosystem stuff MrWhoseTheBoss showcased on Huawei products seemed pretty well done, and it made me think how good an ecosystem like Samsung’s could’ve been.

It’s proprietary though, and you can’t really get it on anything but Huawei phones. Unfortunately, these aren’t the golden days of custom roms anymore where people are porting Flyme onto their Redmi Note 5 Pros anymore :(

If it wasn’t for the obvious gripes I have about Huawei, I would probably have no problem using it, alas, I am just fine with using a custom ROM like RisingOS on my Pixel 6a anyway.

  • When you say taping up one end of the battery, do you mean the battery itself or the connections/plugs? My headphone battery is one of those plug-in connectors, my calculator battery is like a nokia battery.

  • Found a recycling spot! A bit far, but I recognize the area so I can get there during a weekend or something. I’ll see if they accept batteries.

Thank you so much for helping me!

  • I don't know how rare it is, but it hasn't really been painless on laptops from my experience. I've had to deal with trying to find the right kernel parameters to stop my laptop from freezing, to having an incredibly high default scroll speed which I've still haven't figured out how to change, to having to ask the orange alien place to figure out why my Internet card was not working. It may just seem like a hassle to some people, but I believe for most, it's enough of a hassle to just give up and go back to Windows.

  • I was thinking of making my first attempt at an android app a kbin app because of the lack of options, but their documentation (while done really well so far) isn't fleshed out yet.

Lemmy's Documentation is very confusing to me as someone still learning to program (does it get better when you are more experienced???), but it's definitely a lot more fleshed out, so that's why I'm attempting to make just another Lemmy client looool
