  • They should add an extra camera for the symmetry.

  • It's fine. I like that it's normal for people to post multi-paragraph comments in response to a post. Gives me plenty of material to read when I'm bored, and this place. Is still small enough that you recognize people in different threads. It's cozy, but some communities could use improvements.

Also, the other things I've noticed is that many of the people complaining about Lemmy being toxic are some of the most argumentative ones themselves,if you don't believe me, you can go to their user page and more often than not find examples of them being rude or unpleasant on the first page.

    Misery loves company, after all.

  • Speaking of which, when I used to live around NY/NJ, every single random pizzarias or Italian places in general I've been there has been absolutely amazingly good. Maybe there is too much competition for Pizza Hut there.

  • You can kind of use a simplified method to get a good broth with a pressure cooker, because from what I read, the key to getting something good seems to be a sustained hard boil with lots of collagen and fat on the meat.

  • Didn't Pizza Hut use to be a high quality sit-down restaurant that didn't even do delivery and had a big salad bar? At least, that's how I remembered it, because I don't think I've thought about Pizza Hut in years.

Also, it is worth noting that these are companies that franchises Pizza Hut, not Pizza Hut owner Yum Brands. This is more of a case of companies being horrible in general instead of a large company being horrible.

The 20 dollar minimum wage is however well deserved, and probably should be higher considering the cost of living here in California.

  • Note to self: "2 Fast 2 Barbie"(working title) should now be filmed vertically in order to appeal to Gen Z on Tik Tok.

  • I wonder what the pricing is going to be like for this, since the Phone(2) is sitting at a squarely midrange price of 600 USD already.

    Maybe around 400?

  • He looks like he's ready to beach somebody off.

  • Honestly? Ramen. There are way too many ingredients that all needs to be cooked differently, and even the broth itself is a nightmare amount of effort for what you get at the end.

  • Your first statement is completely wrong.

PLOS Biology, the journal this article is published in, is founded in 2003, so hardly a new journal, and has an impact factor of ~9, which means that it IS a prestigious journal.

  • Considering that the needle hovers like mere nanometers over the disk, something as simple as loud noises would cause enough vibration to affect disk performance, so the force needed to permanently damage a disk is really, really small.

  • Besides speed, the main problem of spinning rust hard drive ultimately comes down to reliability: you have to baby them, one bad shock and the magnetic needle scratches the platter, then all your data is gone without any way to recover them.

Datacenters usually have redundancies just in case, but being that NAND flash is dirt cheap nowadays, the flaws of spinning rust hard drives are too great to overcome.

  • I've tried most apps, but I'm perfectly OK with the Firefox on Android web experience for Lemmy.

I've had no complaints about it, it doesn't annoy me about downloading an app like most other mobile websites. So, sometimes, simplicity is best.

  • If you are ever in LA, you should take a drive around SpaceX campus and see the "Hyperloop prototype" they built outside(don't get out of the car, Hawthorne is a run down industrial zone and not the safest place)

There is nothing that shatters the illusion of Musk's genius faster than seeing that sad, short gas pipeline looking thing on an run down street next to their overflowing employee garage.

  • 2024 will be the year of esteemed Academy Award winning character actress Margot Robbie.

    I can feel it.

  • Which one should I try? I think there is this one with beans in it, right?

  • Those bottles of chili crisp with the face of an angry/disappointed looking Asian lady on the label. So good.
