  • I respectfully disagree. The goal should always be to foster high quality discussion over raw quantity of comment and artificial engagement and the devs have said as much in their documentation of Lemmy's design.

Otherwise, this place would be no different from 9gag or imgur comment sections, much less reddit.

  • Make valuable original content here that's not found elsewhere, post and comment thoughtfully as much as possible(No. Pun. Chains). Don't try to turn this place into reddit, be better than reddit.

People who are on reddit that wanted to come here right now has already done so, so it's important to drew in people who has never used reddit before here instead of always waiting for reddit to do something stupid.

Also less celeb gossip please, need a place where I can get away from that on the Internet.

  • So, since I shouldn't ask a wiretap for things, do you guys have a recipe for pancakes?

  • I'll go into it briefly since I'm a bit bored.

The role of woman in society is, as with all things, an inherent contradiction (Pretty sure everyone has seen or at least read about that monologue from the movie by now), and society progress through the development and resolution of these inherent contradictions.

You can view the role of the femme fatale, then as an response to seek resolution to said contradiction: what if these extraordinary women are now free to be as smart and pretty and as dangerous as they want?

I don't think it's an obsession, as long as this contradiction exists, this idea is always worth exploring.

  • Maybe she's up to some of her wacky shenanigans again, like making her coworkers wear pink to set every day and fining them if they don't or pretending to be a fake account of herself to "organically market" her latest movie and mess with a bunch of 30 year old tech workers on an obscure forum just because it's funny or something.

    Who knows.

  • It's terrible. I'm the one who have to deal with the consequences every time that woman makes a bad decision.

She is a great actress though.

  • It's almost as if an award winning professional actor would be really good at playing roles or something.

  • As an actress, that's nonsense, if hacking scenes in movies are fake, then how do you explain this documentary I watched where this hacker man hacked a kung fu fighting cop back in time to kill Hitler (and David Hasselhoff was there for some reason, too)?

  • "Oh, that? That's just my buddy, Escargot Robbie. What do you mean that's weird?"

  • I am shocked and appalled at what I'm seeing here right now.

... I also wanted to be served vegan food in PLATES by satanic ritual performing catgirls!

  • You should make both!

  • I was the girl at the counter and I can confirm this happened.

  • The cats are cute and all, but why do I suddenly get the urge to tell you to watch "The Wolf of Wall Street"?

  • And that lead actress, whoever she is, should totally get an Oscar for her performance this year.

  • I don't think that's true. While the newest MCU movie were not doing as well as they were before, outside these main cinematic universe there have been some great recent comic book movies: the two Spiderverse movies are such absolute delights and some of the best animated movies ever made, and "The Batman" and "Joker" are fantastic as well. (Let's... not talk about the DCEU.)

I wonder if he would consider "The Departed" to be "manufactured content" by his own definition as well, considering the fact it is much more than merely "inspired" by "Infernal Affairs". Just sayin'.

  • It all started when someone's reddit AMA got canceled due to the protests...
