As a Canadian, the fact that it took until the 90s to close the last residential school gives me little faith that the US will make tangible moves to end slavery in this century.

Biden's had no more regard for the intended role of the executive branch than Trump, he's just less openly antagonistic about it. Trump openly derides the system, while Biden just quietly whips it into line.

This is from the same President that slurred "womenofamerica" at a rally, so I guess it's understandable he would confuse being responsible for being responsible.

The US wanted to strike Iranian targets without retaliation in order to not lose face globally. Tehran says no. If I were serving on a US military base in the Middle East, I'd be looking for ways to take leave because things are about to get hot.

Israel has comprehensively pissed off all of its neighbours. It knows it can get away with it too, because daddy US will always be there to support them.

Israel is more closely aligned with the US than Palestine. It's nothing personal.

Given that ships are reporting ties to China to avoid getting targeted and state-owned COSCO has stopped serving Israel in exchange for Red Sea transit, I'm not really sure what pressure the US hopes to apply here.

This reeks of France saying they're not "French" mercenaries: they're mercenaries that happen to be of French nationality.

I don't think many people are claiming that the French government is paying mercenaries to fight in Ukraine, but that the Ukrainian government may be paying French mercenaries to fight in Ukraine.

That's right, the lives of dying people don't matter.
