  • Also on IronFox and it's solid.

If you already use Brave on desktop then that works fine too and syncs your data. Not a huge fan of the crypto/AI stuff in the browser, but the security/privacy aspect of the browser is good.

  • Are you trying to install the Flatpak? The native install probably won't work on an immutable distro.

  • The only full sync option is trying to self-host the sync server for Firefox or Brave. But both seem to be a pita.

There are easy options like floccus but that only syncs bookmarks.

    • Some sites won't work at all due to the anti-fingerprinting stuff that's enabled on it.
    • Everything will be forced to light mode too because of it. Sometimes websites will render at the wrong size.
    • DRM content won't play.

I'm using Zen currently, because it at least strips out the telemetry that Firefox has while still being a normal browser.

  • UPS input load

    Jump
  • Sounds unrelated to the UPS if you're measuring that load on the output. I wouldn't worry about it, computer/server loads fluctuate constantly and that's normal.

  • 60 requests per hour per IP could easily be hit from say, uBlock origin updating filter lists in a household with 5-10 devices.

  • Are there even any good games worth putting effort into that use Denuvo at this point?

  • That's the absolute maximum output, a typical laptop uses more like 2-6W while running.

Plus cycling the battery like that will wear it out faster, and they're generally only rated for 500 or so cycles.

  • Who says you're not allowed to?

  • It loses a massive feature that Plex has and does really well in that case.

  • Jellyfin really needs to work on security and server discovery.

As it is right now you have to manually input the server URL unless it's on the same physical network, discovery won't even work with broadcasts across VLANs, or over the internet.

  • Is it fake or just a review by an employee that uses plex?

  • use a VPN.

That's difficult when most smart TVs / TV boxes don't really have a VPN option.

Plex works just fine without a VPN.

  • Plus it's not what I would call a critical service, it's a nice-to-have service which makes it easier to stop using.

  • This is a problem a lot of secure/private projects have tbh, they get so into the details that it's just a miserable user experience.

  • I assume ease of use and spam prevention.

I think Signal tries to be at least somewhat attractive to the average person who wants more privacy than just using WhatsApp or whatever. Making it easy to message existing contacts helps a lot with adoption.

  • Bitwarden does it nicely, you can click the random button on the username field when adding a new entry.

  • XPipe is what I use, supports syncing via git, SSH, sftp, RDP, vnc, etc.. And can manage docker containers too. It also has scripts you can define that automatically work on any SSH connection.

  • Especially since that's a thing that almost every MMORPG does too.

  • Tiles are just BLE, they're pretty dumb devices that basically just broadcast a BLE ID.

But there are dedicated standalone GPS trackers that use LTE/5G, the downside is you need a SIM card and data plan, and they are a lot bigger with shorter battery life.
