I haven't noticed much of an uptick per se, at least in the posts I've seen browsing all. There was a recent uptick in low-effort America bad posting out of certain communities, but I haven't seen much in the way of red fascist bs.
And here I am with half of my stuff still in totes after half a year of living in my current place 😅 In my defense proper furniture costs money and I'm stuck paying for electrolysis until August
I talked about this later on in the other thread, but I came out to my sister (probably the one member of my family who isn't completely deranged), and she was super accepting! We met up again the day after for Easter at my mom's, and she gave me a bag with a bunch of her old clothes and some extra makeup stuff. 🥹
Shoot, that's hardly an exaggeration - I was only recently able to deprecate the last of our Server 2003 instances, which was running a program originally designed for 2000 Server!
I work IT at a hospital here in the US. The key issue is compatibility. Most of our vendor software flat-out does not support Linux at all, either on the client or server side. Shit, half of it barely even works on modern versions of Windows.
I'm specifically interested in seeing how the transition from Microsoft Office to LibreOffice goes. My boss has been pondering the possibility of migrating us from Word and Excel to Writer and Calc. My concern, as someone who exclusively uses LibreOffice at home, is those edge-cases where another entity sends us a document that has some weird behavior that might not be properly replicated in LibreOffice. I don't know much about the German government's typical document practices, but I think this will be a good case study on the viability of LibreOffice in a more serious production environment.
Playing on my Oldschool Runescape ironman. I'm currently grinding out cooking so I can cook my own sharks. Other than that it's a bunch of stupid farm runs. >:(
Hey! I was waiting for the next weekly update thread to come up, but I think Alyaza is otherwise occupied. Things went better than I ever could have hoped. She's completely accepting. Shoot, she might even be more excited about the whole thing than I am!
She said she'd probably have a lot of questions, which I'm obviously cool with. She loves the name I'm probably going to go with. She's down for clothes shopping, but I'm on my own with makeup because all she's ever used is mascara and eyeliner. What really got me was what happened the day after. We had Easter Sunday dinner at my mom's house. She showed up after I did, and she had a bag with her that she put in my car. I opened it when I got home to find that it was full of some of her old clothes + some extra makeup supplies. I genuinely couldn't have asked for more from her. 😭
I'd personally be a tiny bit put off, but it certainly wouldn't have been a dealbreaker for me.
Edit: Having reflected on it, I think that, if the vibes were good, I wouldn't have minded at all. I suppose it's just one of those things that you feel out in the moment. Don't let it bug you too much; you're a cool bee. :)
Hey, that's handy - thanks! I did have my timeline deleted for a little while, but I reactivated it recently because I needed a couple of extra friend-management features that I couldn't quite get working purely through Messenger. Still, a dedicated Messenger site is super helpful.
