  • My ultra wide monitor has worked perfectly from day one on Linux.

Currently I'm running an LG and Gnome 42ish, if I recall.

But Linux has had excellent support for ultra wide monitors since before I started being able to afford ultra wide monitors.

  • Makes sense. I know there's some amazing Minecraft plugins that haven't been ported to Luanti, yet - and vice-versa.

Of course, I'm happy to be on an open solution with Luanti.

But I might run one of these Rust Minecraft engines for a weekend to revisit an interesting plugin sometime, if they reach full stable mod support.

  • Hmmm. I would be excited for these, except I already bit the bullet and switched to Luanti.

Now that I'm spoiled by an insanely fast server, I do totally understand the desire to have a Rust Minecraft server.

  • Whatever you do, familiarize yourself with git reflog. It contains all the commits, regardless of your current branch state. Even ones you might think you lost. (For about two weeks until it cleans itself up.)

In your shoes, I usually abort the rebase and start a new branch and cherry-pick the commits I need.

It takes awhile, but it's reliable.

Source: In my overconfidence, I screw up my local git state pretty often.

  • It sounds from the way you phrased this like you feel that every IOT device is just a ticking time bomb waiting to become a malware and privacy nightmare.

If so, as someone with some Cybersecurity expertise, I just want to say that is a reasonable conclusion supported by all of the data that I'm aware of.

  • That's what resonates for me.

We don't have email instances, and email providers similarly block un-desired content, but there's not a big fuss about missing out on specific types of spam. Lol.

Similarly Internet service providers actually also block big blocks of malware providing domains, and accidentally sometimes block some great piracy resources. People who care learn to use a VPN or switch providers. Everyone else doesn't have to think about it.

I'll argue that The Fediverse also carries extremely similar switching cost as an email or Internet provider. For an average user, "Let folks you care to inform know where you moved, and maybe copy over some favorite bookmarks."

Sure, different providers do try to bring different lenses on the same federated content, but most people aren't served well by thinking about it on day one.

I think shifting to the term provider is a lot more honest to the user about what to expect.

  • That's fantastic. Provider avoids the mostly baseless FOMO (fear of missing out) that instance can invoke.

I think provider more clearly communicates that the majority of the desirable content is going to be available the same through any provider.

  • Misleading title -looks like all assets, functionality, and code were stolen, not just some HTML.

    20,000 downloads at $3

The ripoff artist made $42,0000.00. Apple made $18,000.00.

The original creator made ~$2,000.00, after TikTok comments pointed people to the original.

    And

"Apple encourages the parties to a dispute to work directly with one another to resolve the claim."

Apple facilitated theft, and owes this developer $60,000.00 if they lose in court. But they know they don't have to lose in court, because they can spend $6,000,000.00 or more on lawyers, forever, to set a precedent to discourage others from suing.

  • I'm incredibly scrappy, so we would get by. I can farm, I can repair stuff, I have a good work ethic, and I get along well with myself.

In certain sciences, we're just fucked, though. I guess we just don't do some of that anymore.

Edit: Also, probably about 80% of the world's computer resources are now serving massive collaborative Luanti build servers. I'm not proud of this, but it's definitely what the collective mass of my selves would do with all of our free time.

Edit 2: I guess we also probably implement a worldwide tax on all income by all copies of me, to pay a few hundred copies of me to contribute to the Luanti project full time.
