  • you have a diminished ability to counter the lies people tell about you when you're dead.

Fortunately I have this genius plan to be an absolute nobody in the history of the world. It's my greatest defense against posthumous fuckery. But if putting me in a dress will help, I don't care.

  • There is no karma or points and I can't figure out why you would call a raw count that. The count means absolutely nothing. I could make a board and post "lol" a thousand times to drive up that number. And if you reset it after a year I could just do it again.

If you care how many times someone has commented and feel like you're winning or losing anything based on that, that's pretty weird. You're asking why people are so opposed to this change if counts aren't important, but why is the impetus on someone to defend the status quo when your only reason for wanting to change it is some people might be weird about it. Show me weird behavior. Demonstrate how it is a problem without referring to Reddit which is a completely different system with no relevance.

Show a need for a change and we can talk options and tradeoffs. That's a reasonable conversation. This... isn't. But that's okay. I've posted dumb shit before and it turns out regardless of up or down votes, it's still just one comment.

  • I couldn't even have them. Sex felt kinda good, but nothing that was ever going to arrive anywhere. It felt good like someone rubbing your arm feels good. I couldn't even get myself there and that is seriously messed up for me.

  • You ever have alcohol just hit harder than expected? I was out at a work party. I can't remember what it was for. It was a small office. Less than 10 total people including the three owners.

I only had two drinks but I must not have eaten anything that day because I was fucking wasted. The office manager had to drive me home in the middle of it. So we fucked at my place. Nothing was ever said after. I worked there another few years. Eventually had a 3-way with the office manager and my future wife.

    10/10 would do again.

  • I guess in his defense, he knew damn well if he stopped coming to work the day after $30k went missing, they'd know it was him.

I mean obviously the smart thing to do is not to fucking touch the money, but I'll give the guy showing up to work the next day. It's not like $30k is flee-to-Argentina-and-start-a-new-life money.

  • You can't make a person understand anything. If the very simple explanation of "draft the unwilling and send them to die" doesn't convince them, they don't want to be convinced. I couldn't name a single person who thinks that's good, just maybe some folks who would say it's sometimes a grim necessity. And I guess I'm in the latter camp, but shit would have to be dire.

  • I enjoy video games, but it's maybe two or three games a year I really enjoy and play the hell out of. Days Gone and BG3 are the only ones I've enjoyed since Jedi: Survivor. I've played the hell out of DG because when I didn't have anything else to do I'd just replay it again. I thought the writing and acting was really good and it's almost like rewatching a favorite movie.

I did finally pick up GTA5 (I often buy older games that were well received but I didn't have interest in paying full price when they came out) and it's good, but it hasn't gripped me and I've just kinda stopped playing. Currently I just spend that time scrolling my phone. I don't think there are any games on my radar I'm interested in buying in the future. But that's fine I don't want to anticipate a game and be disappointed.

There's some new Star Wars game coming out and I fucking love Star Wars, but they said the word DLC and I'm already not interested. If a game requires PS+, I already know I won't like it—a lesson leaned from Diablo 4, which I really wanted to love but really don't.

I also only have Linux. My last windows system got left out in the rain on my deck and that was that. But that's okay because I love to tinker and play with stuff and Linux is great for personal dev projects.

  • I could list a bunch of movies but it's easier to say anything scored by John Williams. Superman, Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jaws. I never caught Close Encounters of the Third Kind but I'll go out on a limb and say it's good just on faith.

He scored some other things, but that's what I remember off the top of my head.

  • The scariest threat in the event you're affected by the data breach is if someone has enough information to open credit in your name. There's a website you can look yourself up on. I have it in my pc I think, but not my phone. They have my name and ssn, but an old address that's not valid any more. Maybe someone can link it. I'll see if I can find it in the morning if no one does.

2FA is good to use when available.

That's mainly it. It could be the most likely threat is to email you scary things to try to get you to click on the wrong thing. Or calling you up with the classic threat that the sheriff is on his way to arrest you now over some outstanding debt. I know wtf I'm doing with security and I've still fallen for a phishing scheme (caught it before any harm was some, but still clicked the damn email). My wife fell for the sheriff thing—sucks when they do find a blemish on your credit to really sell you on they are a real debt collector.
