  • I recently read an article describing how when disabled people have too much in their savings accounts or try to pay off outstanding debts, they are ordered to repay years worth of benefits. We can fix this! Peer-reviewed study after per-reviewed study (in theory and practice) has shown it costs less to just do the right things and look after each other (whether we think it's deserved/earned/insert other term here) or not. We can fix it. It's a matter of rolling up our sleeves and consistently apply pressure in proper spaces.

Direct action, mutual aid in the meantime. For everyone.

  • I chuckled. I think there is deep seated shame of being gay, or soft, in toxic masculinity (and toxic femininity), that people probably go to extremes to hide it. Like being a player, spousal "discipline," etc. and it gets passed down from generation to generation. But that's a whole other topic.

  • I had to turn it on, but that was a 6s. Currently running android without much storage and I'm loathe to back up to cloud, unless it's business that doesn't require extra privacy, but may needed as a reference, later.

  • Because it deleted from the cloud, the synced message is already on the device. Once there's a digital copy, it's like a carbon physical copy. Just because you shred the white and yellow copy doesn't mean you've shredded the yellow copy in the file cabinet you forgot about.

  • It would take ripping apart and rewriting hundreds of thousands of lines of source code, if not millions. Not just bloat from one off bright ideas, that led to the next bright ideas, but the deliberate obsfucation to protect proprietary code, in more instances than I can imagine. I'm not a programmer, so I could be wrong, obviously, but from my admittedly limited perspective, they'd be better off writing a whole new OS without all the built-in garbage nobody wants.

  • 100% agree. I follow a few content creators who include a Cash App or Paypal information in the description box. They don't demand cash** because they do it for the love of what they do, and don't demand subscriptions or anything else. If I have an extra dollar, I send it. I'm guessing this either isn't their only revenue stream or do well enough that it is. If everyone who is appreciative would do a dollar or few donations, maybe it is a livble wage, with or without youtube's payment?
