  • Yeah, that was entirely the intent of ushering in a think tank's neoconservative military agenda. The Project for a New American Century (PNAC) had a list of signatories that included Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, Jeb Bush, Gingrich, and Cheney; all determined to bring the United States into the 21st century prepared to fight micro-wars on several fronts.

Their manifesto (authored a few years prior to 9/11) referred to the fact they'd need "a Pearl Harbor type event" to usher in these changes to military organization and deployment to move away from "cold war thinking."

The attack in NYC gained them political favor to implement these changes, go after Iraq, Iran, and North Korea (hence the Axis of Evil), and let the events of Iraq Part II unfold. It was sickening watching it unfold, and people ate that WMD shit up like it they were hooked on meth.

  • You know, you'd have an ally with a liberal if you weren't so narrow minded that you decide to shit on them and deride them when given the opportunity. So you can still GTFO with your "lib" shit.

  • JHC, get out with the "libs" shit. Liberals (the Left) in the U.S. criticize this shit all the time, and constantly take shit from the Right for being anti-patriotic.

  • And it totally falls in line with institutionalized racism. Ugh, I hate seeing shit like this...I really do. I know the United States can do better, and it's frustrating that some Americans will ignore the atrocities the government has done to their own people. Going even as far as questioning your patriotism because you point this out, or criticize the government for doing these things.

  • You people cheering on the separatists are also big fans of Brexit right?

No, however I am a fan of self-determination, akin to Scotland's reaction to Brexit and the possibility of them splitting with the UK so they could reenter the EU. And with the UK exiting the EU it was a close enough vote to split the country. Catalonia voted over 90% to leave...regardless of the referendum's potential legality.

Whatever Sanchez is doing to try to court the Catalonain leaders in exile is vile, and shouldn't deter the will of Spaniards to choose their leadership, however governments outside winnter-take-all elections we have in the U.S. require political coalitions. Hopefully your politicians from different parties and interests can agree upon that and rightfully oust Sanchez.

  • Yes. Tractors already have a number of built-in visual and audible alarms when the onboard sensors detect things like veering, severe pitch, and traffic. Oh, that and it's a driver's job to watch and respond to road conditions.

Not to also mention that student driver teachers perform a job like this already.

  • You're equating sentience with non-sentience. a LLM is a non-sentient program, created by humans to learn language. You are a sentient person who is influenced by the painting techniques of Van Gogh and el Greco. While you don't need to credit them, they have influenced your work. That is entirely acceptable practice.

This is a huge difference in the realm of copyright.

    EDIT

Also the works of the artists you mention are in public domain in most countries. They can be used by LLM without incident. Works of artists not in the public domain should be subject to copyright law for LLM.

  • OMFG...this pekingese is a little scrapper. Such a cute dog.

  • So is it any wonder that a business would hire fake reviewers to increase their Yelp score, when Yelp holds these businesses hostage with their outrageous policies for bad reviews? Those reviews can make or break a small business. I'm not exactly sympathetic with hiring fake reviewers, yet I'm not sympathetic AT ALL with Yelp's business model.

Yelp needs to change how it vets reviews, and have better handling of a business' response and deletion of irresponsible patron reviews.

  • Are there even 10 restaurants in Harper's Ferry?

  • I went to Niagara Falls in 2004, and I was a little perplexed with the stop smoking campaign flyers attached to the back of individual cigarette packs (pictures of rotten teeth, black lung, etc.). Ended going over to New York to buy smokes because they were SIGNIFICANTLY less expensive and without the flyers.

  • If you are talking about cannabis, there is some information out there on how vaping impacts health. I just did a quick Google search and found it...I'm sure there's better evidence available out there, although it may be more anecdotal.

  • Did it stop you smoking? If so, then yes it worked.

Every 10% increase in cigarette tax results a 4% reduction in consumption among adults, and a 7% decrease amongst youth. Source

  • Back many many moons ago in the year 2008 I traveled to the great city Vancouver to see a friend. They took me to a venue to see a band and cigarette smoking wasn't allowed.

But you bet your fucking ass there was plenty of people smoking weed. Which seems to be just fine...breathing in second hand smoke...which is the main reason these tabacco restrictions are in place.

    EDIT

I don't care if you smoke weed, only it has the same second hand smoke issue tabacco does and should follow the same rule.

  • "Image capture 2012" This is why it shows still intact. The bridge washed out after this street view was taken.

  • The boy, identified as Nicolas, 15, later killed himself on 5 September in a Paris suburb, one day after pupils went back to school after the summer break.

Yeah, the bullied kid committed suicide. That seems reason enough to arrest him in class.
