  • I always look at things like these and are tempted to buy them. There is so much cool audio gear out there that I feel like could "up my game", but then I realize I have no game and already own a bunch of fun production gear that collects dust because I don't have the time or energy to make music anymore.

I considered selling some of my stuff, but want to hang on to it just in case any of my kids pick up the hobby and all my stuff is cool and "retro" at that point. Shit it is almost already cool and retro - Akai MPC1000, Korg Electribe SX ESX1, Korg KP3, Dsi MoPho, a couple other bits and bobs.

But yeah, always tempted to buy cool new awesome shit that I would never use.

  • Damn... Now I want new gear.

Also "I ride almost exclusively in the midwest US, so hard, rough, icy conditions that most people wouldn't consider snowboarding in are the every day" - I'm in the northeast, so I am very familiar with ice boarding, so I'm sold.

  • Damn... I still snowboard in my gear that is over 20 years old. Has it really changed that much? I only go a few times a year so I never wanted to spend the money on new stuff. Lift tickets already cost an arm and a leg.

  • Is there a simple way to find out if your Information was in this leak, and what information it is? I use haveibeenpwned for leaks linked to my email address, but from I read in this article, it's not linked to my email address.

So how do I found out if my data was leaked without paying for a credit monitoring service?

  • And if I understand correctly, they are safer because there is less chance of parts touching inside. I don't know the correct t terminology, but one of the big problems with current li-ion batteries is that if they get physically damaged, parts inside can touch, which basically starts a short/chain reaction that turns into a dangerous thermal runaway.

Also if I remember correctly the guy that invented li-ion invented some kind of solid state battery with glass right before he died. I'm assuming this technology stems from that.

Please correct me if I'm wrong on any of this. Knowledge is power.

  • I'm in my late 30's in the NYC area. What my wife and I consider a "vacation" is going to Philly and staying in a hotel with a pool, and just putzing around a different city for the weekend.

The idea of taking a week+ off from work and flying somewhere is a foreign concept to me.

There have been a couple of times that we have gone to states far away to stay with family/friends, but it's usually for like a long weekend.

  • Also in the context of working, this isn't just computers. It's tools in general, and a computer is a type of tool. Problems with your saw? Problems with your batteries? Problems with access to electricity and your extension cords not being long enough? Problem with losing your 10mm sockets? If you're a trucker or driver the problem could be your vehicle. Etc etc etc.

This article is stupid. Tools break, they always have and always will. The tools we have now are better than they have ever been. They will probably keep getting more and more efficient, but they will still break. Because tools break.

  • Confusion like this got me my current job. They were looking for somebody with experience in "Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager", and I look that up and I'm like "Oh, that's SCCM, I do that". Go through the interview process they keep asking me if I know Endpoint Configuration Manager and I'm like "yeah, for sure". I get the job. Day one, the other systems engineer is like "here is the link to our Endpoint Manager Tenant", and I'm like "oh... Shit I have never ever used this"

Well... Ends up Endpoint Configuration Manager and Endpoint Manager are two different things. Fortunately for me they are pretty similar in function and rely on knowledge of Windows and Powershell, which I know.

So my first 2 weeks of work was taking a shitload of courses in Endpoint Manager and watching a lot of videos and learning it inside and out.

2 years later and I'm an Endpoint Manager/Intune pro.

  • Stray

    Binding of Isaac Rebirth

    Disco Elysium

Dark Souls Remastered (don't think it was even on sale, but I have never played a souls game and was told this was a good place to start)

Basically a bunch of big hits that I never got around to. I'm starting with Stray, it's relaxing and fun. I played a little Dark Souls, but I need to come back to that when I have more time to focus.

I was also looking at Death must Die. I played the shit out of Vampire Survivors, and I've heard DMD is more of the same.

Last big StamDeck game for me was Hades 2. Loved the original and 2 was just as fun. I know it's not fully complete, but I unlocked everything available and upgraded most of the gear all the way. I can't wait for the full release.

  • I'm on Lemmy.world because it's the only instance I could make a account on the day Reddit shut down the API. All of the other popular instances had account creation stopped because of the flood of people.

I could probably make an account on another instance, but I'm pretty lazy. I honestly don't know what the benefit of using another instance would be.
