OP, you suck. This has been (falsely) reported before, and every time it gets shut down as fear-mongering. I really doubt you learned of this, did any kind of source checking or just looked it up without seeing the MANY disproving replies that are always there.
I've seen this enough times, this exact post, to where I'm certain it's consciously done false sensationalist crap. There are several other posts like this about other apps and services that get posted every couple of weeks/months and just like here they always get told off for their idiocy.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's a group or person doing much of it, it's the exact same every time.
It really isn't minuscule, it's still confusing enough for the vast majority of people. Just the fact that there are different servers and them having to learn about that is enough to put people off. Anything more complicated than basic sign-up/in weeds out 90% of people, every tiny little thing they need to learn makes it less likely they'll even think about using it.
This is obvious. The way you and many others here think about how knowledgeable, tech-literate and willing to lift just one extra finger the average person is isn't correct, people are dumb and lazy. And it hurts the fediverse as a whole and slows adoption.
Your opinion and my reply here have been said thousands of times, I don't understand how your kind of ignorance and misunderstanding is still so prevalent, I see it almost weekly.
Hahah, I didn't before you pointed it out. It's perfect, a small dick and a loose old man sack as the logo for "warrior essentials" manly alpha man supplement scam.
It's in that movie but it's not from it. Did you seriously think it had never been said before that? It's been used for centuries in different forms, even exactly as said in glass onion.
Same with "it's so bad it's good" both with and without "nah, it's just bad" after. I think one of the most well known things like that is "The Room", and many reference that movie when something else fits the description but it's not at all from that movie, it existed long before it.
The advice is/can be used in a ton of different situations, you seem to only think it's for a very narrow and small part of those. And even then, it's not always the best thing, someone can be themselves 99.99% of the time but sometimes it's better to hold it back. Even something as simple as if they're meeting your parents for the first time and you know there will be problems if you don't tell them to not mention something, act like they think differently about something etc.
This very much isn't just about a possible partner for you and all the time. I don't understand how you thought that was the only thing. It's like if someone said a common feature of cars might not be worth keeping on all the time and you read that as only a specific line of Volvo cars, in very specific situations and like you can't turn it on and off. See how weird and dumb that is?
Nah, it's far more things than just those. I'm guessing the person who made this doesn't have anyone who's good at cooking around them. I used to have a friend who was like that, he and his gf only cooked 3 or 4 dishes and they were all bland as fuck. The only spices etc. they had were salt, pepper, thyme and a huge 1-litre box of cheap taco seasoning.
Whenever I cooked for them, they were blown away, and I tried giving them some other species, but they never used them.
The person who made this image, and OP are dumb as fuck. Narwhals are the unicorns of the sea, not fucking swordfish. A unicorns horn is not the same as just a pointy thing.
Some TIL posts really surprise you, it's crazy to me that you have never heard about this. Not being degrading or anything like that, it's just surprising.
All you did with this post was show everyone you're an idiot, and you not realising that before posting just increases the level of stupidity.
And we're on lemmy, a place where almost everyone is more tech literate than most and generally less dumb too, yet here you are. It's a miracle how you managed to get here and figure out instances etc.
I've never seen one without a 'jump to recipe" button, and it's done for several reasons like search engine optimization, getting people to spend more time on your website, and you can't copyright just a recipe, so adding text gives them the ability to protect their work. There are more reasons, and many think it's as annoying to write all that as you think it is for being there. They're kinda forced to do it, and some actually have fun with it, I've read several funny ones which I absolutely would rather have read than not.
There are many articles about this, and obviously also many posts everywhere on the web asking why it's a thing with answers explaining it.
But as said, there's always a button right at the top to skip it. You're never forced to manually scroll past it and obviously not forced to read any of it.
