  • 64GB is standard? Nintendo is really nowhere near making a console like PlayStation or Sony, huh. Mental of them think they have any power to set the prices. Very few people are going to get their console outside of a sale. As for games, I hope they get pirated

  • It looks like he's a popular political satire artist, making fun of both prominent American parties, and his content includes a satire of white racists with a character musician called Blackfayce, and according to Wikitubia, is notorious for leaving a positive review on the Netflix film 'Cuties', a film that's been widely acknowledged as eye candy for predators. My small amount of research says no, he's not a paedophile, but who knows.

  • I love the doge having the same expression when he's being fired

  • Oh yeah, that's insane. One sub's mod banned me because someone was confused over an "F word" someone else was being ambiguous about. I educated them with "I believe they mean "faggot"." Lol I took that bait but I believe education and strong community spirit is more important than bending the knee to excessive censorship.

  • An absolute fuckton of services use AWS somewhere down the line, it's not that simple to avoid it unfortunately.

  • I knew about Lemmy, but didn't migrate until months after drama in Reddit.

I got permabanned from the CasualUK sub for insulting boomers. In a response to the query of the word being a slur, as one person on Twitter felt picked on, I said the ones that act like the stereotype (aka self-absorbed, demeaning others) deserve the nickname the stereotype was given. I was banned for 'identity-based hate' despite the fact that being an asshole to anyone younger than you is not an identity.

I also got banned from GirlGamers for questioning the authorities, which made me realise that some mods really are pricks who rule the subs by removing people that they don't agree with, and I decided that I didn't want to reside in a site where moderators are borderline fascist, no matter how wholesome the other users are.

Someone asked if it's worth avoiding media because you don't agree with the creator. I voiced my opinion, saying that I don't think so, as long as the media makes you happy. I referred to a few examples, including "my love for the Wizarding World, despite its creator being rather toxic". This got removed for 'mentioning Hogwarts Legacy', VERY loosely tying my comment with a sub rule. I reposted the comment twice, once omitting the Wizarding World, and once a copy of the original, adding "(not the game, the whole franchise, power tripping mods!)" which resulted in a three day ban. (For those who don't know, the Wizarding World means the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. This is a very large media franchise spanning a significant more mediums than one game. There are seven more games, in fact). I contacted the mod team, and they said I cannot question them, permabanned me from GirlGamers, and blocked me for thirty days, as if that wins the disagreement.

This kind of leadership, and the controversy over Reddit becoming a walled garden of censorship and run like a corporate cash cow, ended my support. I deleted my account and cut ties emotionally with the communities there.

  • Thanks! I'm okay. Like you say, I have friends who are my family :) we support each other. It's good to know that relatives aren't the only potential source of such care, despite what they might teach aha

  • Bahahaah, I think some folk are sad about this article
Edit: Commenter was correct, darn. Replaced image where the needle was off the left side. It changes after voting.

  • Hell, I disowned my dad for making a racist act, pretty much, pointing to a black child at a golf course and making subtle monkey actions. Later that day I said fuck it, came out to him as trans. The following weeks that he contacted my partner and I proved my decision to banish him was correct, and so I did. A zero tolerance policy for intolerant people is a must imo

Parents have no hold over you, not really. If they don't deserve your presence, don't allow it. I hope, however, that your cousins would accept your choice and stay in contact with you, because sibling love is so much more valuable.

Families shouldn't be torn over political garbage anyway, priorities are all out of wack

  • Perhaps not knowing this at first was unforgivable to a few people, and accepting help from you seemed like I was being insincere? I am genuinely happy to see so many eager to help in this community, hell in the instances I've engaged with! So, so much nicer than Reddit aha

  • Yes! So proud of you and everyone that turned up. I hate that we're the target of some weird obsession as if we're a threat, but while here, it's so good to hold events like this and educational stalls etc.. Like, if the gov won't teach folk, we will haha
It is so nice to see kids in these events, to me they're a monument to who we are as they weren't forced to turn up, and they're a sign that the future can be safe for folk who just want the right to free expression :3

  • Thank you, that's fantastic! I need an upgrade and am likely going to go AMD for CPU and GPU. I think my Microsoft days are coming to an end aha

  • Thank you! I'll give it a proper shot, including enabling that setting. So good to know :)

  • Nah, the vast majority of my interest is in single player story-based games. But hey, the moment SteamOS for desktop is here, I'm jumping on that

  • I didn't use Proton, there's the difference. Most games didn't have a download option. I felt a compatibility module wouldn't offer nearly as good performance/efficiency as a game designed to run on Linux/ext4 - but are you saying that playing via Proton is fine?

  • How was it, did you go?

  • Mine is EE. Very little system settings are available, I can't modify any technical limits. I fixed mine though, it was just overheating in its case -_-
