  • I've always found that assumption very weird and figure it's rooted in human exceptionalism. Like we must be super special somehow. The more natural assumption to me seems that other animals, given their similar biological makeup, think rather similarly to humans.

  • Recently bought a thermometer/hygrometer. It said the external sensor is calibrated for -40 to 60°C (values might be a bit off but in that ballpark) while the internal one is calibrated for -20 to 100 (again might be a bit off).

There was a 1 star review of someone using it in his sauna (so around 100°C) and seeing a big discrepancy between data from the two sensors so "it clearly can't be very accurate".

  • If they're being violent themselves, or actively advocating for it (as in: in a way that could reasonably cause others to be violent). I'm also not gonna try to stop anyone for punching someone throwing out slurs, though I don't think it's a great response. If it's just "i know this person is a nazi for whatever reason but they act like a normal person" I'm clearly against it and think the punching person is also in the wrong (to be clear, both are). Advocating violence against a group for their beliefs is just something I never consider okay, even if I think those beliefs make them the scum of the earth.

And even with all that I'd probably still press the magic button that makes all nazis drop dead, but mainly because I believe that would probably improve society quite a bit rather than because I think it is justified against them (since I would argue that really isn't any different from genocide even if it doesn't quite fit the definiton). That might make me a bit of a hypocrite, but it's not like that button will ever exist.

  • It might be per household vs. people with a firearm registered to them personally? (Note i have no idea how firearm registration works in thr US but it's the first explanation that comes to mind since your source is specifically "adults living in a household with at least one firearm")

  • Honestly if you approach genshins probabilities for 5* with anything other than "50% i get at max pity, 100% at 2x max pity" you're doing it wrong so I'd argue in that sense it's dead simple. 4* being less guaranteed feels like a problem though, you're not that much more likely to get the 4* you want from a banner than the 5*, and there's no guarantee you'll ever get it at all. And ime a LOT of people don't realize that (though I still don't think getting a rough idea of that is particularly complicated).

Having outright "if you spend x in game currency, you are x% likely to get the thing you want" info does seem like a reasonable requirement.

And personally the reason i spent more on genshin than any other gacha is that i had a reasonably priced guarantee instead of having to gamble at all, it felt more like buying chars for a set price with bonus loot boxes.

  • Afaik they all kill you by being introduced into your bloodstream, the difference is mainly how they're able to accomplish getting there. So any poison will kill you if you inject it, but venom will mostly be safe to eat barring any wounds.

  • K is just shifted °C though and just removes what's nice about it with freezing/boiling of watee while requiring 3 digit numbers for every temperature you'd encounter in daily life. I think I'd rather use Fahrenheit

  • Think of an alternative scenario, not transportation but rather duplication. The original stays where it was, but a copy gets created elsewhere. To the copy, it will seem as if it got transported there. To the original, nothing will have happened.

    Now you kill the original.

The only difference is the timing of ending the original.

  • If you want to hate them more, there were cases of wikis moving off the site and fandom just deciding to restore the content after the maintainers deleted it, claiming everything written on the site is their property. Absolute shithole and I refuse to use it if there are alternatives.

  • Thefuck are you on about. I take just as much issue with chinas genocide, I just take less issue with my own (and other) governments' handling of said genocide. For one Israel is getting active support while china has frosty trade relations, but also the balance of power would allow both the EU and US to pressure Israel into stopping, which they can't just do with china because china is a global superpower. I still kinda think they should but we all know citizens will cry about any QoL loss they might experience as a result, and that is reasonably something governments have to consider.

  • From what I've seen you have crossdressers self identifying as trap (a subgroup of all crossdressers and I could see how the term would be offensive to the rest as well) on one side and people that are unaware that group exists and think trap is exclusively a derogatory term for trans ppl (or think enjoying crossdressing MUST mean you're trans) on the other.

It's a whole mess as any offensive language tends to be, because words rarely ever only have one meaning and there's also more than one language in the world but terms still cross from one language into others.

Honestly as long as you're trying to be considerate of others I don't think anyone can fault you, and that goes for everything. People will try to speak for everyone, but even when they do speak for the majority there are usually exceptions.
