It's not like they came out of nowhere. If they were framed as the Rebellion in a dystopian movie, everybody would be cheering for them. Probably asking why the other 98.6% of the population aren't participating.

I don't think this is a properly formed question because there's a difference between "not hateful" and "innocent". "Innocent" also needs further qualification - innocent of what?

But actual typos? I might see it using the wrong word because people keep using it (can't think of a good example right now but like their/there) but "Minneosta" isn't a word at all. A simple spell check would catch that.

I don't have a license so I may not know wtf I'm talking about but I'm pretty sure where I live cars already have to keep a certain distance proportional to their speed. If they don't and they crash into the car in front of them because the driver had to brake suddenly, the driver in the back is liable. We still get congestion and all that nonsense.

Your experiences with these discussions seem to be better than mine, that's all I know.

For me, it's not even about the interaction. "Do your own research" is conspiracy ideologists language for "trust me brah" and we should be better than that. Whatever they claim may simply not be true and "look it up yourself" is just a means to waste everybody's time because there isn't anything to look up. Not to mention, whoever made the claim should already have at least an idea where they got the claim so why send everybody on a wild goose chase when they can simply link to it?

Supervisor: Hey, um, I think you forgot to include sources in your thesis?

Grad student: You can also look up a source. It's real easy these days, with the little supercomputers in all our pockets.

Sure, for fun. Most people starting this kind of discussion seem to be looking for definitive answers though.

MySpace was way smaller than Facebook, it wasn't even available where I am for most of its (meaningful) existence (I never had a MySpace despite being the exact target age range).
