  • People be misinforming way more than AI itself

Exactly. They love/hate xy so much, they just Start saying the most uninformed stuff.

For example „Linux is great because every Supercomputer runs on it”. I have so many arguments how this is an utter nonsensical argument ,starting with „so you think every computer on this world uses pretty much unique Hardware which only works with software written for itself and therefore requires a tailored costum Linux kernel?” and ending with „So most enterprise businesses use windows 7 to this day, so its the best OS ever right?”

Not that I amost die of too high blood pressure every single time I have to use a windows machine, but these kinds of arguments are just nonsensical and don't help anyone who's just hearing about linux

  • Well, but Isaak was believing that after he talked to Dr mercer, or am I wrong?

I mean, he brought the marker back to the planet, which should be what the marker wanted, so why were they still attacking him?

But also, from another perspective, they have set up this twist perfectly. I mean, first of all its pretty logical: everything all right --> marker removed --> everything going to shit, so everything all right <-- marker brought back <-- everything going to shit

This, the betrayal, and Dr mercer being one of the people studying the marker in the first place (and Isaak's girlfriend actually being able to interact with things, and the necros attacking her) have really convinced me that bringing it back was the right thing to do, and the necros not attacking all of a sudden would have been way too obvious

Edit: Wait, is mercer the guy developing the invincible necromorphs, or is he the one helping you bring the marker?

  • Its just this trope of „Guy locked himself inside some safe room from where he dosent want to come out, so he just commands the player around until he somehow dies the moment he wants to come out again” that aggrovates me.

  • For fucks sake piracy is not stealing

Piracy would be if you paywalled your meme, and someone takes it while still giving you credit. If someone takes something and dosent give you credit, its not piracy, but just being an ass

  • That's the problem

Why do I need someone on Lemmy to tell me this when they have a whole 10 or so page website that could just as well detail this instead of the usual „Hey, your keyboard works on this distro”?

  • SystemD is really bloated tho

I'm not saying we should all be using runit, but with systemD making more and more services only work through their init system just creates more vendor lock in

Like, who needs a cronjob alternative that only works if you use SystemD, limiting your software to people using it and locking out everyone needing a less bloated init system like runit? And who needs a systemD calendar?

  • online gaming anti-cheat

Just saying, if you have to give a game kernel level access to your glorified porn viewer in order to play it, you should really reconsider if its a good idea to play it, both from a security as well as a mental view.

  • for the average user.

So we are talking about an average user, who

    • fully understands the appeal of a degoogled Phone
    • Willingly spends extra money for a fairphone
    • is able to migrate away from google services to /e/'s services
    • Is willing and able to troubleshoot any problems that MicroG has
    • is willing to fix not working banking apps
    • but somehow can't use a simple web installer from Calyx

Tell me, is this average user in the room with us right now?

Everything works out of the boy.

So does (and does not) with Calix or Graphene

    Buy a Pixel.

I think you don't get what I'm talking about.

-It takes a base level of understanding why you would buy a Fairphone (or any degoogled phone)

    • it takes a base level of understanding phones to be able to use a degoogled one
    • If you already have that knowledge, you might as well just take an extra 5 minutes and use the web installer for calyx since it is literally the same AND has less vendor lockin than /e/

Edit: You want an average user friendly ROM? Just use Lineage for gods sake.

  • /e/ has built in privacy features

/e/ uses a for profit 3rd party for unencrypted backups. That alone should be a big red flag.

    is google-free and runs MicroG

So it runs google. MicroG just limits what data is sent to google.

You can even use your apps that you purchased from the PlayStore.

You can do the same with aurora store. That's available on just about every phone.

  • Yes, but these are unwanted laws passed by EU. These laws are not integrated into the EU itself. Yes, its a fucking joke that our democracy still does not have a good way of kicking out all the unwanted Nazis, but it dosent mean that the system needs to be destroyed (like the bots are saying). It just means that we need to expand the system more.

I would argue germany is going right because its pretty much 1938 again here. I mean, in the alternate world of the AfD these fuckheads are talking about how they would have won the election if the „Pedophile lobby” hadn't brainwashed everyone with their Woke mind virus. Like, I might as well just take way too much of my meds again and see what I dream during my trip and these fuckheads would believe it as long as I say Heil Hitler at the end.

They also want to censor climate misinformation

Also yes, they are literally setting themselves up for a fascist takeover with those laws, but I would argue that's the price you pay when you implement democracy and then try to fight fascism with authoritarism instead of offering quality education.

So since the 4th Reich is already coming, next time we should actually not just quit at killing the Nazis in 1961

  • The word youre looking for is „russian-american trolls”

The EU is neither a Regime, noir Authoritative. It is our current best way to never repeat the stuff that happened during the cold war in the USA by requiring everything to be open and accessible to the public. The EU is literally what you shape it to be. If you have a problem with what kind of laws the EU is passing, you have a problem with the people voting, not with the system itself.

  • Properly maintaining an open-source project takes time and resources

But why not make it source available? They most likely already use git, so they just need to port it to github. Its not like they would need to review a bunch of merge requests, since they are source available only.
