  • I read the poll when I read the article, it never shows where the get the 19 million number. Even when I ctrl+f and search for million, it only talks about the rights of millions of Palestinians. Never talks about where they got the 19 million.

  • I've seen a lot of my fellow trans folk say the Democrats were going to support this. That Democrats are going to throw us under the bus and let our rights be taken away, supporting it even. Yet here we are with an actual vote on the direct subject of Trans folks' existence and whether we can participate in sports and only 2 Dems voted for it. 1 voted present. The vast majority of the Democratic party supports trans rights and will vote against shit like this.

When it comes to the military budget last year, which had the transphobic rider, a budget was on the line, they voted for the budget because of how important that was, regardless of how that was incredibly misguided.

Democrats still vastly support trans people.

  • They're not saying it but I think it's likely this is because of all the big games coming out in February. Civ 7, Avowed, and Monster Hunter Wilds are the three big ones and those take up a lot of time. Shadows would get lost in the weeds. Meanwhile there isn't really a big game coming out in March. So perfect time.

  • Copying most of my comment from the c/news post because this is super important to know.

They aren't just getting rid of fact checkers, they are also allowing “allegations of mental illness or abnormality when based on gender or sexual orientation, given political and religious discourse about transgenderism and homosexuality and common non-serious usage of words like ‘weird.’” They are saying it is completely okay to call trans or gay people mentally ill because their existence is "political".

This article doesn't even fucking mention that. It only says they're changing some rules about "gender" but not what those rules are or what those changes mean.

    This is insane.

This article doesn't even fucking mention that. At the bottom it says they're changing some rules about "gender" but not what those rules are or what those changes mean.

  • They didn't "run out of time" for voting rights and campaign finance reform. It was literally the first bill the house passed in 2021 but because of the filibuster it went no where in the senate. Should they have gotten rid of the filibuster to try and pass it? Sure, but they didn't "run out of time".

Minimum wage wise is a different type of stupidity with the senate parliamentarian but even if that was fixed Manchin and Sinema wouldn't have voted for it. And of course they didn't even try with student loan forgiveness in congress cause they had hoped for being able to do what Biden tried to do, forgive up to 20k if you got pell grants. Which was then stopped by federal courts. Courts with republican/Trump appointed judges. Again, even with these they didn't "run out of time".

So basically, the problem is two fold, the filibuster fucks shit up when democrats are in power, and the voters continue to not give the democrats a big enough majority that would allow for being able to take the hit of a senator or two not wanting to vote for legislation or dont give them a super majority so the filibuster doesn't come into play. And even when they do eventually get that, like they sorta did in 2022, they lose control of the House so can't do shit.

  • Yeah sorta. I write the review as I go. Whenever a thing jumps out at me or I have moments where I'm focusing on a specific thing frequently, I'll write about a paragraph about it and then move on. Sometimes a long one, sometimes a short one. Once I'm finished with the game, I go back through and edit and restructure and get rid of some things that ended up not being important or change some of my thoughts based on how the game develops. Sometimes, early on, something jumps out at me and I write something about it, and then later on that thing gets fixed and I just get rid of the whole paragraph.

  • I think some have forgotten it. But I think more people either weren't paying attention back then, or were so young that they didn't even know what was happening. I'd hazard a guess the younger the voters, the more they think the democrats are always terrible and never get anything done and primaries don't do anything.

Not to say there aren't older people who think the same, just my guess about why we get so many people insisting the democrats are just as awful and not fixable so they stupidly think a third party would be better despite that just removing their power as people.
