  • Literally the only point of advertising is to manipulate people into buying stuff. I don't need your product, I don't want your product, and I hate it when you shove it in my face exclusively for your own profit.

If I decide I want something, I go looking for it.

  • It is clear just exactly who ruled the party during communism when you look at PSD's policy. Being in favour of a privatised energy sector is not very socialist at all. To me this just shows how little value they put on socialist values and paradigms back then too.

No socialist project can work long term when built with a small number of people at the top, determining everything. Power needs to be as spread out as possible.

  • Personally, I couldn't get through the main and faction stories because of that. I liked the stories well enough, but getting through them was so tedious because I couldn't even use all my skills. I don't know how end game is, I have one max lvl character with a bunch of cp, but I rarely play an mmo for end game content.

If they had like a difficulty slider for the open world content, that would be enough to make me return, but I don't want to shut down my brain while leveling, that's not fun at all!

  • You do realize stopping the meat industry altogether implies letting all livestock die, right? Very few people could afford keeping a cow or a pig as a pet and without the financial incentive there, farmers wouldn't waste their money feeding the livestock. They can no longer survive in the wild.

I'm not in favour of how it works right now either, I'm all for more animal rights and better conditions, but to think we could just stop and everything would be nice is just plain naive.

  • It's funny to me how we look at human nature as selfish, competitive and even cruel, when every scientific experiment shows that unless there's a strong push for those traits, humans are decent blokes who like to take care of each other.

As you said, capitalism pushes us to our worst. If we get rid of it, people will naturally build a better world.

  • When I was a kid, we used to visit relatives a lot. I was 12 as well and listening to adults talk about boring stuff wasn't cutting it anymore. Most of my relatives had PCs, but none with any games I'd be interested in. So I took my mom's 8gb USB stick and turned it into a Linux Mint bootable usb.

Now, keep in mind that I didn't know that much English at the time and honestly I'm amazed I managed to do that, but... I wasn't aware stuff on the stick would be overwritten, and let's just say my mom wasn't too pleased!

Didn't even solve my problem, since the only game that would run was Terraria, and that with like 5 fps on most of the computers I tried it on!

  • Not all hedonistic philosophies are pro-consumer. Epicureanism, for example, still keeps personal happiness as the overarching goal, but considers following pleasure and desire to be reckless and counterproductive.

The way to personal happiness isn't through following desires, it's through eliminating needs and pains. The only way to reach sustainable, long lasting happiness is through a healthy body and an unburdened mind. It promotes simple living and imo is one of the better fits for a socialist world.

Overindulgence is anathema to Epicureanism, since it creates more pain for the person in the long term. Sure, drug abuse could make you incredibly happy for a few hours, but it ruins your body and your mind, so it's really not worth it.

It stands to reason, then, that any self interested person following Epicureanism would turn towards community and friends, since it's pleasant to know people are doing well and unpleasant to know people are feeling miserable. Try as you might, deep down you won't be truly happy as long as you know there's something you could be doing to help, but aren't.
