  • This will happen. A lot of people did this initially in Mastodon, but it just resulted in feeds getting spammed by reposts from Twitter and drowning out actual posts. Most such users just ended up getting blocked, and others stopped reposting blindly on the fear of getting blocked. My mastodon feed looks so much better without those annoying reposts.

  • Discord is the worst option in terms of privacy, and since this is the privacy guides community, I am thinking that should be an important criteria to consider.

  • Postimages already has official plugins for several forum softwares. I am sure one of them could be tweaked for use in Kbin and Lemmy instances. And postimages themselves might help in this, if contacted.

  • Its a completely different link agreggator software. But since both Lemmy and kbin are based on the ActivityPub protocol, instances of both can federate with each other. Hence, lemmy users can see content posted on kbin instances and vice versa.

  • This. Federation doesn't transfer private data of the user, just their public facing profile and posts. There is no expectation of them being private.
