It would be ironic if Trump actually "Made America Great Again" by being the direct cause of his base rising up against him, the billionaire class and the current status quo leading to systemic reform and a more equitable society.
You could say that about a lot of things. Boxing enacts an extreme toll on a boxers body, in training, in match prep and in the fight itself, yet many of them continue to come back to the ring.
Sometimes the thing that is a struggle and exacts a toll has a reward that makes it worth it. It doesnt mean the struggle to get the thing wasn't difficult or debilitating.
It's easy to say but the solution takes a lot more critical thinking for people to vote ethically or even just in their own interests rather than for the team they've been trained to vote for.
Most people either don't have the available time to research, the interest to put the effort in or the capacity to understand the consequences of their choice.
Simplification to "trusted source K recommended by trusted source L says I should vote for team B" is the default solution. "Surely everyone in recommended team B is a fine upstanding person who will fight tooth and nail for my best interests?"
Most people need to be engaged and critical or the system defaults to whoever controls the trusted sources.
Nah the article says the voter registrations are missing details like drivers licence and social security numbers. But yeah, the 60k votes could be for anyone. You can only assume he sees a revote as a chance to take another spin at the wheel and maybe this time it will land on red.
So .. do Americans record who voted what in their elections? Its all well and good to say 60,000 votes were invalid .. but how does he know what they voted? It could be pretty easy to argue that poorly recorded voter details would all be for right wing 'small government' nut jobs that would have voted Republican. Immigrants also tend to be conservative.
Given he's unlikely to be happy that the 60,000 come off his quota, or even with a 50/50 split to cover the fact that no-one knows where they could have come from, does the state have to revote?
I feel like a good campaign ad for Riggs would include "Griffin is a sore loser and is now wasting $X Million and your valuable time going back to revote, he clearly thinks you and your tax dollars are worthless."
Itd be nice if he got to sentencing, said "PSYCHE! JAIL FOR YOU! FOUR YEARS! NO PAROLE!" and then had some cuffs slapped on him and dragged him directly to prison. It's not going to happen, but it'd be nice.
He's even got the Trump tan
