  • Bad take, considering how helpful cannabis can be to those who use it, how little evidence there is to show that it drastically increases one's risk of heart disease, and how many substances we consume with far worse side effects (e.g., SSRIs, aspirin, acetaminophen, etc.)

On the other hand, alcohol has no benefits when taken internally.

  • This pales in comparison to the damaging effects of alcohol on the heart and the rest of the body

  • Literal right-wing propaganda. "ThEy PuSh KiDs To Be TrAnS." You're a disgusting person.

Edit: This user is also a mod on a lemmy.world community! Wtf. Remove this fucker.

  • Dad, mom says you're supposed to get off Lemmy and help cook breakfast

  • Just report that transphobe. They don't belong here on Lemmy

  • And a court and justice system that cares and is not part of the corrupt state that enabled this in the first place

  • Weed is much safer than alcohol, even if you smoke it

  • I'm a huge proponent of legalization, and I think weed is great, but you're objectively a worse driver while high. Please don't.

  • Just think, if it hadn't been for Harry Anslinger, we wouldn't have this meme!

  • Dear people who tell LGBT+ people that we shouldn't care what some right-wing nutters think:

This is why we have to care. What they think does affect us, unfortunately.

  • One last boost for the economy at Earth's expense

  • Yes, this is John Dennys, CEO

  • Denny's won't ask you to leave if you flog the bishop inside their restaurant because they can't afford to lose a paying customer in this economy

  • Good to know, thanks! I think most of the candy I eat is vegan. In fact, it would probably be an easy switch for me to go vegan.

  • Amen. One of the things I like best about anarchism is it introduces concepts that we can begin to practice immediately vs. awaiting some future revolution.

I really like the book I linked because to me it's so much easier to read and digest than some of the famous works by authors like Kropotkin or Goldman.

Audible Anarchist has also uploaded a few chapters from the book, which I've been listening to on my walks: https://piped.privacydev.net/channel/UCaO1QA8QL99_eb0XhJI2Fyw

  • If that's what you think this says, then you completely misunderstand anarchism.

This book describes current and past societies that have functioned using anarchist principles such as horizontality, mutual aid, none of which are utopian, but all of which are significantly more equitable than systems like capitalism, feudalism, authoritarianism, and statehood.

  • I would however like to clarify that neither Republicans nor Democrats will solve the systemic issues in any meaningful way, and it's not saying "both sides are the same" to point this out. I literally voted for Biden, but I still have Democrats accuse me of "voting for Trump" when I point out ways the Democrats do things like uphold a capitalist economy, extend the reach of fascist agencies like ICE, take power away from the working class, compromise with right-wing extremists, and observe a hierarchical system.

I can agree that Republicans are far worse, and I can cast my vote, while still being honest about the situation.
