Sat at the library yesterday and read Open Borders by Bryan Caplan. He really breaks down how open borders benefit society from a capitalist perspective, but I find it helpful too. Anything to show others how closed borders are damaging, and how the idea of curbing immigration in America is rooted strictly in colonialism and racism.
The best part is I think it is presented in a very digestible, accessible way.
I know the feeling. Ironically, this very line of thinking got me sent to the psych ward (which was worse than jail and less helpful) and slapped with another bill. The whole system is designed to exploit, not to cure.
Recently I've noticed a trend at self checkouts where someone will come over and be chatty and offer to help. I literally use the self checkouts because of my social anxiety, and this makes me so uncomfortable. Come to think of it, I should probably send them this feedback since ultimately they're just trying to be helpful, but I think it's very misguided.
I took some vacation time. My new longboarding friend seems nice, and my husband doesn't seem to hate him, so that's always nice. He even taught me my first trick, and I'm planning to buy another board since all I have are dropthroughs and one mini cruiser.
Got a flat tire on my bicycle, but fortunately I don't mind fixing things so the only maddening part is waiting for the tubes to be delivered.
It's been nice enough in the evenings for my dogs to enjoy the outdoors.
