It won’t fare well for most of us once habitable regions are flooded with climate refugees whose entire life savings and livelihoods have been wiped out.
But that doesn’t matter as long as profits are up in the short term, and it especially doesn’t matter to the handful of people who have hoarded enough resources to last them the next thousand years. They have bunkers and yachts and stuff. They’ll be fine, and they’re the ones deciding policy for the rest of us. Maybe they can make reality television where the rest of us fight hunger games style.
On a totally unrelated note, I’ve heard humans taste like pork.
And to punish his perceived enemies, don’t forget that part. And give unchecked power to cronies who openly want to get rid of ‘undesirables’.
The Nazis didn’t go full Jews-in-ovens at the beginning. First they came for the socialists, and the queers, and the political dissidents, and then everyone who wasn’t white, straight, and christian enough.
Fascists eliminate everyone until the only ones left to oppress are themselves. They need an enemy, and if you don’t think they’ll eventually come for you, you’re wrong.
If trump wins, it’ll be historic, all right. Children in 2060 will learn about the 20s and 30s in school as a cautionary tale, and if they’re lucky, some holocaust survivors will still be alive to speak at assemblies. Hopefully those survivors won’t be showing the scars of a nuclear bomb like I saw in school as a child.
We’re going to see much more of this in the coming days. At least one shooting at a poll place will undoubtedly happen, and more than likely an actual shootout old-west style where multiple people show up armed and it escalates.
I’m not just guessing – this is based on what people have actually said. Some idiots have proudly proclaimed they’ll go to the polls armed and sound to be spoiling for a confrontation.
I hope nobody is actually killed, but I won’t be surprised. This election is already hotter than I’ve ever seen, with bomb threats, election offices being shot at, drop boxes set on fire, etc, and it’ll only get worse. The fascists are itching for bloodshed.
Well, yeah. The bible was written in a place and time where women were property, like livestock, and if you actually believe those teachings (without doing mental gymnastics), that’s what you should believe.
The 10th commandment makes this pretty clear:
You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.
Women are included in the list of property you shall not covet, on the same level with your neighbour’s servants and livestock.
Modern christians try to whitewash the religion, but if you take it as it was written, women are akin to livestock.
Is this sarcasm? What about people who are infertile? Take away their vote? I had to have an emergency hysterectomy at 28 after my only child was born. Should I not have been allowed to vote after that?
Yes, selfish sociopaths exist but, believe it or not, most people are able to use empathy to put ourselves in others’ shoes without having to literally be in their position.
Roger Stone was behind that madness, as well as J6 – he was so confident in their J6 plans, he had a legitimate documentary team following him that day as they did their ‘war room’ fuckery at the Willard hotel, and some of their footage was used at the J6 congressional hearings.
And good news, everybody! Stone is still walking free and doing more of the same fuckery as we speak! He’s still, to this day, a main operative behind trump’s campaign. Will be wild!
As opposed to all the times in the past where it had more to do with zealotry towards a figurehead (kings, saints, martyrs, etc) or outright heinous acts. This is what Christianity has always been. It was only ever about peace and love on paper. It’s always been about idolatry and control in practice.
I am on the outskirts of nowhere and disabled. All my options are big chains. I wish they weren’t – my small town is now all hair salons, Tai Quan Do studios, pubs, florists, and yard or antique shops. No local shops here carry life supplies (food, toiletries , drinks, medicine) except the gas station (in very small quantities).
Total Time: 1 hr 20 mins
Yield: Makes about 1 1/4 cups
Ingredients:
1/3 cup sugar
1 (6-oz.) container fresh blackberries
1/4 cup honey
1 tablespoon dry mustard
3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
Directions: 1. Bring first 2 ingredients to a boil in a small saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally and mashing berries with the back of a wooden spoon. Reduce heat to medium, and simmer, stirring often and mashing berries, 2 to 3 minutes or until slightly thickened. Remove from heat, and pour mixture through a fine wire-mesh strainer into a blender, pressing with spoon to release juices; discard solids. 2. Add honey and next 4 ingredients to blender; process on low 20 seconds. Increase blender speed to high, and process 30 seconds. With blender running, add oil in a slow, steady stream, processing until smooth. Transfer mixture to a small bowl; cover and chill 1 to 12 hours.
Especially when her main message is saving democracy
This is exactly the reason. Because saving democracy right now means getting every possible vote, and the Cheneys can sway some old, Reagan/Bush republicans who reflexively vote R without really paying attention. If even the Cheneys support Harris, they might take notice. It’s an enemy-of-my-enemy situation.
I think I understand why you’re not getting this. You simply can’t understand that under FPTP, the only way to vehemently deny one candidate and to keep them out of office is to ‘support’ the other, even if you don’t agree with them. When one candidate will destroy democracy and usher in an autocracy, if you actually care about having a choice in the future, the only effective solution is to support an opposition that will not destroy everything.
You still haven't addressed how Biden's foreign policy and Harris's presumed foreign policy (due to her unwillingness to create daylight) isn't a part of her platform aligned with the Cheneys.
This is not the topic of conversation, and I’ve already given you enough of my time. Google exists., and I’m not your polisci professor. You can look the rest up for yourself.
You mean the Reagan/Bush era republicans who are now the most reliable voting block, and who feel like the current Republican party has gone too far, but have been dutifully ticking that R every election since they were able to vote? The ones on a steady diet of Fox News who think trump can’t really be that bad, but if the Cheney’s of all people, those dyed in the wool conservatives, are supporting Harris, maybe they should at least look a bit closer at it – those people who don’t exist?
I assure you, those people exist. Especially in swing states. They exist so much, professional pollsters warn they might be over represented.
