I have the exact same issue here trying to connect to lemmy.sdf.org. Hope it gets fixed soon.

It is so ironic that SEO has become the very problem it was invented to fix: all these jokers gaming the system have all but plunged us all back into prehistoric internet times, before search engines appeared and people had to remember which specific sites to go to find information online.

For videogames specifically, I usually turn to these sources for reliable advice:

• Eurogamer and other reputable media outlets I've been following for years, so I know their journalists well and their tastes
• Metacritic and GameFAQs
• Watch streamers play the game I'm interested in for a while and make up my own mind as to whether I like what I see or not

This is the right answer.

Yet that doesn't matter much as the two endings of the game are that you either refuse to link the fire and walk away, leaving the world to die, or you do link it to keep it going for a little bit longer but in the end it won't matter much as it will die down eventually.

• The Longing: a really subversive experience
• Kingdom Come Deliverance: open world medieval game with a moderate emphasis on realism. You start out as a peasant who knows how to use a sword and finish the game being not much more than that.
• Dark Souls 1, 2, 3: these games make you feel pretty unimportant, unlike other FromSoft games like Bloodborne or Elden Ring. The bosses and environments will certainly make you feel challenged and powerless all the time.

I am truly sorry to hear this. As a longtime Vim user, I cannot thank Bram enough for his massive contribution to software development and for his kindness. His legacy will live on, not only in Vim, but in all the communities he selflessly supported for so many years.

The younger voters are indeed pushing fascism, at least in Spain. I had also assumed ultraconservative, nationalist movements would be more popular with the older demographic in Spain but, proving my point that it's those who didn't experience Franco's dictatorship who are buying into the far-right ideals, Vox voters are on average 8 years younger than voters of other parties in the country (apologies for the link to Spanish media).

I don't know if this is any different in other countries but in Spain the people swallowing the fascist pill are very much your archetypical white, privileged, young male.

Making short-sighted decisions to obtain results quickly is just human nature.

Fascists, populists and demagogues exploit this flaw in human nature to rise up. They promise big things using big words to masses of people who are uneducated, jaded, or both.

Some people in Spain, like in many other countries right now (USA, Greece, Italy...) are turning to fascism because they feel squeezed dry and let down (unemployment, Covid economic hangover, inflation, etc.) by their current governments, so they run to the people sat in the opposite (or most extreme) end of the political spectrum hoping they can turn things around.

With such a simplistic, binary mindset, coupled with a younger generation of voters who have not experienced what it's like to live in a fascist country, it's no wonder fascism and belligerent nationalism are gaining traction in the West. I just hope we can turn things around before more European countries follow on Hungary's steps.

Strawman aside, anyone who thinks national socialism has anything to do with socialism needs to seriously educate themselves on Nazi ideology. Socialism to Hitler was nothing more than a buzzword he used to boost approval rates and votes quickly

As soon as they came into power, the Nazis did a complete 180° and swept every single promise they had made under the rug, kicking out or straight up murdering anyone, even in their own party (e.g. Sturmabteilung), who may have genuinely believed the party's socialist façade.

Their socialist agenda was not the only falsehood the Nazis pushed though (surprising, I know!). The only three things the Nazis actually believed in were:

• Hitler
• Jews/Poles/anyone Hitler didn't like = kill
• Germany is entitled to take what they want from anyone because Lebensraum
