  • But it's the first time they've made a change as drastic as this. I can recognise any Jaguar car out there even if I know fuck all about their cars because I can see the jaguar design on the car.

Now people will have to squint to make out the word JAGUAR in that shitty font? Bad move.

  • Which is ironic given how many English loanwords have infiltrated the language in recent times, to the point where sometimes I hear Japanese speak in a not overly formal context and half of the words they say are just English words with Japanese pronunciation.

  • Skill-based matchmaking sounds good on paper —and maybe it does help to an extent— but it doesn't work all that well when you take into account the top performing players will routinely play under low level, alt smurf accounts, to grind and keep the high rating of their main account intact.

  • It could be true, I guess. It could be Western propaganda too. It doesn't take much to reason a country as underdeveloped and isolated as NK lacks an effective military.

However, maybe they don't need to be particularly good to further Russia's interests. NK army may be good enough as cannon fodder or purely for defence purposes, as border guards or patrols.

  • Just use Google Docs then. Yes, it's Google. Yes, it will somewhat tie you into their ecosystem but Google Docs are free, get regular updates and are pretty good overall. I've been using Google Docs for many years now. I occasionally use Office365 for work and Google Docs is just as good, if not better.

  • Nope, don't rotate passwords. Just don't. Best case scenario, you're wasting your time; worst case, people will actually make their passwords less secure by rotating them, e.g. some people would happily change "password123" to "password1" and call it a day.

Just pick a looong password once, make sure you don't reuse it elsewhere, and you'll be fine.

This is as per the NIST latest guidelines.

  • The article addresses this point.

This change is justified by the fact that a user can simply log out and view another user’s posts anyway. Except that’s not entirely true. Since Elon Musk took over the site, being logged out of X makes it very hard to view a user’s profile, individual posts are viewable but viewing an account triggers a log in pop up.

So technically it is possible for a logged out user to view your tweets but it's a lot more inconvenient. Anything you can do to make it not worth their while helps.

With this change they won't even have to put any effort anymore to stalk your content on X.
