  • Hard4Games always has the craziest lost finds.

  • Modern Vintage Gamer and GameHunt are both God tier channels made by old developers. MVG is ran by someone who was huge into console modding and emulation for a while. GameHut is ran by the owner of Travelers Tales, better known for Sonic 3d Blast, Sonic R, and the Lego Star Wars series. Both great channels

  • Holy shit someone else had Over the Hedge on DS as a kid? This thread is making me feel so good as a kid that bought loose carts from behind the GameStop and Vintage Stock counters. I genuinely believe that Over The Hedge is one of the reasons I loved Metal Gear and Assassin's Creed so much as a kid

  • For sure, their hatred for fan games pisses me off. Nintendo is far from perfect. I was so sad when AM2R got shut down, it was a nearly perfect project. They've also gone after certain popular Pokemon ROM hacks like Flora Skies. Most of it has been undeniably shitty.

However I will defend some of their copyright bs. I think it's reasonable to ban posting footage of certain things in the game as long as it's made clear. Nintendo games are all about discovery, the shock awe. They were bitches about Super Mario Odyssey ending footage when the game first released and I'm glad they did.

  • Nintendo hasn't been flawless, but they're the prime example that just selling a really good product is enough to make it. They have live services and mobile games, but I've spoken to people. Pokemon Legends Arceus and Zelda have sold a metric fuck ton of switches. Even Mario Odyssey is a great example of this. Sony also seems to kind of understand this, with really great single player games. Games as a service seems to be the entire Xbox brand right now with gamepass

  • The original comment was top tier for sure, but god Redditors love running jokes into the ground

  • Also, don't know how this would work, but it seems like the best route is going to be making a sync instance or teaming up with another well federated instance. If you could just download Sync and use Lemmy with a quick sign up with no thoughts about what instance you use, it would be amazing. Could change instances obviously, but I think it's the best way to get good user experience.

  • I'll download Sync for Lemmy the second it's available. I use liftoff right now and it's better than using Lemmy raw, but it doesn't match the cleanliness of Sync. Genuinely believe that third party devs like LJD are going to be the saviors of this platform. Sync has always been great and ahead of the curve. Ready to have it as my normal app again.
